Nancy Langer Obituary

Nancy Jean Kisil Langer, of Hamden, died Nov. 23, 2010.

She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Berwick, Pa. Her early years were spent in Berwick, Pa., New Britain and New Haven. She was a graduate of Hillhouse Class of 1948, Grace New Haven School of Nursing, Class of 1951, earned a bachelor of science degree, from Southern Connecticut State University 1977. She loved to travel, sing, dance and play the piano, violin and accordion. Lifetime member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church of New Haven where she was part of the church choir; the League of Ukrainian Catholics; former president of the Immaculate Conception Society; a founding member of Veselka Ukrainian dance ensemble, and founding member and past president of Mr. & Mrs. Club; founding member and soloist of Connecticut's Yevshan vocal ensemble; toured Ukraine with the Dumka choir of New York and performed in the U.S. and Canada with Hamden's Silk'n'Sounds. Recently, she was part of Hamden's Miller Community Wii bowling team and community choir. She worked at YNHH, Arden House of Hamden, Brook Hollow HCC of Wallingford - acting administrator; and director of nurses, Inservice and Infection Control coordinator for 22 years.

She is survived by her children, Donna Catherine Langer Lodynsky, and husband, Jerry R., of Cheshire , Hope Jean Langer-Marshall, and husband, Bruce W., of Plainville; her grandchildren, Adam Thomas Lodynsky, of New York City, Andrew Michael Lodynsky, of Cheshire, Stuart Johann Langer-Marshall and Nadia Jean Langer-Marshall, of Plainville; her godchild, Mark W. Buciak, of Newington, and Kenneth Serbin, Navarre, of Florida; her aunt Anne Serbin Havel, of Farmington; nephews and nieces, John and Daina Serbin, of Lebanon, Robert and Maryann Serbin, of Southington; Jerry Have, of Farmington, Gary and Fran Prestash, of Hamden, and Mark and Cheryl Havel, of Barkhamsted. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Mary Serbin Kisil; and her husband, Stuart M. Langer.

The funeral was held Nov. 26, 2010, at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden. A service was held Nov. 27, 2010, at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, New Haven. Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church Fund, 569 George St., New Haven, CT 06511.
