Nancy Mangold Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2025.
Nancy Ruth McGhee Mangold, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Audubon, PA, on the morning of September 8th , 2025. She was born on July 31st, 1931, to William L McGhee and Ruth C McGhee, and grew up in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Nancy was a graduate of Mount Lebanon High School, going on to earn a bachelor's degree from the Pennsylvania College for Women. Her senior year she won a one-year scholarship to the prestigious Tobé-Coburn School for Fashion Careers where she studied Fashion

Merchandising. During her scholastic career, Nancy was engaged in many scholarly activities, notably a starring role in a college production of "As You Like It."

Nancy married her high-school sweetheart, Raymond J Mangold, on June 27, 1955. The couple settled near Boonton, New Jersey where Nancy and her good friend Jan Georgett opened a successful gift shop called The Hobby Mart. It was in nearby Lake Valhalla, and later in Lewiston New York, where Nancy and Ray raised five children. Nancy was the President and a dedicated volunteer for The Auxiliary of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, also serving as a member of the hospital's board of trustees. Wherever Nancy lived, she was heavily engaged in

local library, hospital, and church activities, including teaching adult classes in the Lewiston First Presbyterian Church. Nancy was a tireless advocate for education and healthcare needs, volunteering whenever and wherever she could. She instilled in her children a thirst for knowledge and a profound appreciation for education. She and her husband, Raymond, had a shared passion for the arts,

supporting their local philharmonic and theatrical productions. They passed this on to their children through family trips to locally presented plays and to on and off-Broadway shows. Nancy was sharp-witted with a wonderful sense of humor and a fantastic heart. She always made time for her children, whether it was cheering them on in their after-school activities or providing guidance through the many challenges life provided. Nancy was a devoted wife and a loving, supportive mother. She was a marvelous soul who will be forever cherished in our memories and our hearts.

Nancy is survived by her three daughters, Debbie, Sharon, and Kate, her two sons, Chris and John, her seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Nancy will be interred at Wayne Presbyterian Church, PA. Memorial Garden in October, 2025.

My deepest sympathy to the Mangold family. I will always remember her kindness, her loving, gentle nature, as a mother to her children and wife to her husband. They were wonderful role models and raised a wonderful family, which she always made me feel a part of since my early childhood. She was a huge influence in my life and taught me so much that helped me in raising my own children..I will love her forever and keep your entire family in my heart and prayers forever.
