Nancy Mattick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 15 to Mar. 16, 2003.
Nancy Louise (Huff) MATTICK Nancy passed away peacefully in her home on March 11 after a brave, 3-year battle with her illness. Throughout, Nancy remained cheerful and optimistic. Born June 3, 1947 to Bill and Betty Huff, Nancy grew up in Ketchikan, Alaska, graduating from Ketchikan High School in 1965. Ketchikan was always "home" to Nancy, and she was fortunate to have many of her grade school and high school friends living in the Seattle area, where she spent most of her adult life. Nancy earned a degree in Sociology from the University of Washington, and worked as an administrator for the UW Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics for 30 years, retiring in 2001. Her family and many friends will remember Nancy as a warm and caring person with a delightful sense of humor. She was especially fond of cats, hats, and Italian shoes, and loved traveling, beach combing, and shopping for antiques. Nancy is survived by her husband Tom, sister Janice Hastings, and niece Danielle Hastings. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 22 at noon, at the Ballard Beach Club (Shilshole), 6413 Seaview Ave NW, Seattle. Peace be with you Nancy dearest. We love you and will miss you.

It was largely because of Nancy's encouragement/guidance that my grammar/editing skills, as well as my secretarial skills, improved tremendously while at AERP, and I've become very good at it -- but more important, she was my friend as well. All of us at AERP were very blessed to have known you, Nancy. I will always remember and hold dear in my heart the last time Mike and I saw Nancy and Tom -- At Anthony's Homeport at the Everett Marina.

May Peace and Love be with you, Tom -- and Nancy, may you rest in peace knowing the joy and comfort you brought to so many of us.

Warmly, Mary Jo
