Nancy Dolphin Moonan

Nancy Dolphin Moonan, of Kingston, died on June 20, 2009, following a brief illness.
Born on November 19, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Joseph Dolphin, M.D., and Theresa Murray Dolphin, Nancy was a graduate of American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Known for her lively wit and scintillating conversation, she was an accomplished performer. Throughout her acting career she garnished a myriad of credits to her name. Nancy was the lead talent in The Nancy Dolphin Show, and co-hosted with Ed McMahon the television show Fun and Fortune.
Nancy’s career spanned 17 years at CBS Television at various affiliates, including Philadelphia, New York and Scranton. She enjoyed acting on stage and was the star of many local plays produced by the Little Theater of Wilkes-Barre and was the understudy for the lead role in the Broadway production of Kiss and Tell.
After retiring from television, Nancy became the proprietor and buyer for the fashionable men’s haberdashery Mr. R’s in the fabled Watergate complex in Washington, D.C.
Nancy was a member of the American Theater Wing in New York, National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Stage Door Canteen in New York, Skytop Lodge and American Women’s Voluntary Service in New York during World War II.
Her husband, Phillip E. Moonan, died December 22, 1994; a brother, J. Murray Dolphin, M.D.; sister, Bettee Dolphin Regan; and a niece Maria Regan, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are a niece and nephews, Maureen Kasenchack of Kingston, Basil Dolphin, M.D., of Bethlehem, Jacques Dolphin of Honesdale, Kip Dolphin, M.D., of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., Quentin Dolphin, M.D., of Holidaysburg, Maurice Regan of New Hampshire, Shawn Regan of Minnesota, Brett and Dunston Regan of California
Funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Funeral Mass at 10:30 in Church of Saint Therese. Private interment will be held in the family lot in Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
