Nancy W. Olson

Nancy Thea (Watson) Olson, age 86, of Taylor, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.

Nancy was born on July 26, 1930 to James and Myrtle (Carlson) Watson in Milwaukee. She graduated from the Bay View High School in 1948. Nancy went on to attend Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and was an employee of the Milwaukee Public Library.

Nancy was united in marriage to Robert R. Olson on June 14, 1952 in Milwaukee. They lived in Gary, IN until 1957 when they pulled up their city stakes, three little boys, and began the challenging life as dairy farmers in Taylor. They raised their seven kids on the farm, still residing in the farmhouse.

Nancy was an award earning free-lance writer and two-time winner of the Wisconsin Writer's Association jade ring. She entertained many with her colorful stories which she included as part the "Taylor News" in local newspapers for many years. Nancy served 20 years as a director on the Grand View Care Center Board, was a 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, Ladies Aide officer, church council member, Order of the Eastern Star member and a charter member of the Sanctuary Singers.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 64 wonderful years, Robert; six sons, Kim Olson of Milwaukee, Rob (Cheryl) Olson, Leif (Julie) Olson and Todd (Denise) Olson all of Taylor, Craig (Cheryl) Olson of Hokah, MN and Kevin (Pat) Olson of Harvel, IL; a daughter, Merrideth Olson Herried of Woodbury, MN; 16 grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Ryan, Jamie, Christopher, Isaac, Jordan, Johanna, Nathan, Morgan, Matthew, Lacey, Becky, Katie, Jenny and Robert; nine great-grandchildren, Henry, Louis, Kenzie, Brayden, Nolan, Grace, Ella, Payton and Dylann.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Olson and an infant granddaughter, Amy Olson.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church in rural Taylor with Pastor Benjamin Ahles-Iverson officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Blair at a later date.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be designated to the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, the Jackson County Interfaith Caregivers or the Grand View Care Center.
