Nancy Susan Parker

First of all, Aunt Nancy and I shared the same birthday! When I was about six years old, I understood that Aunt Nancy was a born teacher. While at the zoo I spit my chewing gum out onto the sidewalk, and she spent about 15 minutes explaining to me why I shouldn't do that. She continued to teach me and help me throughout college. She enjoyed tutoring my daughter Lacey in her science classes. Aunt Nancy shared with her niece, Carol Lee, an example of her love, humor, and wit in a funny poem that she could quote to this day.

Two Dead Boys
One dark night in the middle of the day
Two dead boys came out to play
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise
Came and killed the two dead boys
If you don't believe what I said is true
Ask the blind man, he saw it too.

I became especially close to Aunt Nancy when Mom passed away in 2001. We spoke or visited monthly until she died. I learned these things from
Aunt Nancy.

Aunt Nancy never thought that she was competitive; however, she was the most competitive person that I ever knew whether in basketball, golf, or the game of bridge.

Aunt Nancy always followed and knew all rules and she shared them with me.
Aunt Nancy loved "Bucks English" cartoons from the DAILY OKLAHOMAN. She clipped them out and sent them to me to share with my language arts students. Her love for diagramming sentences inspired me to teach all of my students this forgotten art. The fruits of her labor are still being enjoyed.

Aunt Nancy was a women's right activist and we shared the same political views which we spent hours discussing over a cup of French roast coffee.

Aunt Nancy always brought the best gifts with each visit--coffee, kitchen essentials, food, and the list is endless.

Aunt Nancy was someone I always turned to for medical advice and a listening ear. She was very knowledgeable and loved to learn.

Aunt Nancy is already missed!

I have many childhood memories of my cousin, Nancy. She was always an exceptional person in every respect. A good listener with an understanding heart. Any task she undertook was given her total attention. I so admired her, and will always remember her benevolent attitude.

The Staff of Lake Hefner Golf Club offers our condolences in the passing of Nancy. Her lovely smile and courageous heart will remain with us always.

I have missed playing golf with Nancy. She was one of the first that I played with when I joined the Thursday Lake Hefner ladies. Two memorable times will be forever in my mind. Once, when I was upset about a shot that I made, I lightly taped my club on the ground. Nancy said to me, "we don't behave like that." The second, was when I was still new. Nancy was in a sand trap in front of me and I was in another. She told me to go ahead and hit. She was braver than she should have been. I hit out of the sand trap and my ball landed on her thigh. I felt real bad, she assured me she was fine. I kept apologizing to her every time I saw her. I will miss her smile, and her giving me pointers on the rules. She was my first golf mentor.

Nancy, my sister, and I talked often our last
several years. I appreciated her thoughts and insights much.
