This is really sad news. The arts in San Diego were the happy recipients of Nancy's generosity and gentle grace. She was truly special and a devoted fan the arts. She made a real difference.

Nancy and I became fast friends when we went to boarding school -- lots of exposure to the arts -- and then at Radcliffe. My condolences to her family, who meant so much to her.

Nancy was a brilliant woman, the best writer I have known before or since. She will be missed, but contributed much to the arts over her lifetime by her hard work and generous spirit.

My heartfelt condolences to all of Nancy's family. She will be missed terribly by her colleagues in the arts community. She was always generous with her time and provided gentle mentorship for those who worked with her. Her contributions to the community far exceeded her recognition and I think she preferred it that way.

Nancy was wonderful in all regards. She was a dedicated champion of the Arts throughout Greater Boston and was a most gracious leader on the many committees she was a part of. And everyone affiliated with the ICA Boston will miss her greatly.

Nancy was one of the most generous people I have ever known. So gracious, too, and such style (who else could have carried off that tea cozy hat?). Since some of her many acts of goodness were done anonymously, and since she spread her beneficence around, I doubt any one person can truly know the depth and range of her kindness. My deepest sympathies to her family and Bill.

Though I didn't know Nancy well, I was always impressed by her graciousness, and she seemed to have a presence which towered over her small stature. The art world has lost a great patron and advocate, and I know she will be truly missed by her family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all who suffer the pain of her loss.
