Nancy A. Trimmer

SPRING GROVE Nancy A. (Hoke) Trimmer, 77, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 8, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard C. Trimmer Sr., who passed away on the same day as his wife just 12 hours later. Together they shared over 61 years of marriage. Nancy was born in York on July 3, 1934 and was the daughter of the late James Hoke and Romaine (Ryan) Shettel. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Spring Grove. She was a longtime employee of R. H. Sheppard in Hanover. She was a member of Hanover Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a past president. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, puzzles, reading and loved animals. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her sons, Richard C. Trimmer, Jr. and wife Susan of Lake Meade, Steven L. Trimmer and wife Deborah of Hanover, Randy A. Trimmer and wife Gail of York; her daughters, Debra J. Small and husband Gordon of McSherrystown, Diana R. Nace and husband Gene of Spring Grove, Melissa A. Smith and husband Harold Jr. of Glenville; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Barry Shettel of Athens, Ga. and Donald Shettel of York. She was predeceased by her brother, Terry Shettel. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Church of Christ, 2112 Yingling Dr., Spring Grove, with Rev. Lou Ann Jones officiating. Following cremation, she will be laid to rest with her husband at Marburg Memorial Gardens privately by the family. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
