Nancy Wilcox

OTTUMWA — Nancy Jane Helmick Wilcox, 86, formerly of 426 Chester Ave., died at 3:20 a.m. Nov. 1, 2007, at Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.She was born March 24, 1921 in Lafayette, Colo. to Dan and Rose Danna Hagan. She married Harold Helmick Sept. 5, 1939 in Salida, Colo. He preceded her in death June 10, 1970. She married James Wilcox Oct. 8, 1977 at Sherman Chapel. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1985.She was a farmer and housewife, and after raising her 11 children, she worked at Ottumwa Day Care. She also cleaned houses for 20 years. She was a member of Zion Community Church of God. She enjoyed needlework including making her children’s clothes. She had served as a volunteer for A.A.R.P.Surviving are nine daughters, Donna (Lester) Smithhart of Ottumwa, Jean (Mike) McAntire of Wellsburg, Pat Christy of Salina, Kan., Jan (LeRoy) Griffith of Broken Arrow, Okla., Sharon (Delbert) Pattison of Cedar Rapids, Deb (Mike) Baughman of Pulaski, Sara (Matthew) Cregar of Vallejo, Calif., Kate (Al) Milligan of Minburn, Andrea (Kevan) Bogert of Drakesville; a son, David Helmick of Bangs, Texas; 31 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Clow; two granddaughters; and a brother, James Hagan.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Community Church of God with Rev. Jesse Elkins and Rev. Maurice Overturf officiating.
