I grew up in New Orleans. I did not know Nash Roberts personally. I just knew him as the Great Meteorologist of New Orleans. He was a treasure. He was a hurricane whisperer and he could read a hurricane and knew exactly where it was going to hit. Even when he retired, he came back on air during the hurricane threats to help. Nash Roberts was the only meteorologist that my parents watched and trusted thoroughly and I know that we weren't the only ones that trusted him with our lives during hurricane seasons. We were thankful to GOD for Nash Roberts.

Growing up in Gulfport, Ms. in the 50's & 60's, I remember all of our parents tuning in to WDSU to listen to "Mr. Nash" to get the most accurate forecast. Especially when hurricanes like "Betsy" were "coming" we all knew we could depend on his uncanny ability and to follow his advice. I have yet to see any one that could call it like him!!

Sincerest condolences to the family. Nash was a fixture in our home and lives. No one asked what the weather report was; they would ask, "What did Nash say?"

I remember sitting in front of our black and white tv watching Mr. Roberts weather forcasts on wdsu in the late 50s and early 60s in new orleans. My grandparentsand parents would only watch Nash. Thank you sir for being so professional and independant.

I remember when Nash said on tv, Forcast no rain But Do not go out with out your umbrella.
January 14, 2011
I am very sorry to hear about Nash. I was raised near Picayune Ms in the early 60's and every day we always sit and watch Nash with the weather news. My mother, never watched anyone else and truly believed everything he had to say because we trusted his judgment. Never has there ever been another one like him. My husband and I have mentioned on several occasions we had wished Nash was there for us during the Katrina flood. Maybe more would of listened. Nash joined WDSU in 1951 the year I was born, and that should tell you that he has been a house whole name for many wonderful years. May God bless his family and close friends. I will forever remember him as one of the greatest weather men that I have had the pleasure of watching.

My father always believed what Nash Roberts had to say about the huricanes and the weather in general. He was the one we believe. The eye of Camille went over our house but thanks to his reports we were ready for it. Daddy is gone now but hearing of Mr. Robert passing has brought back so many memories of my father. His sons, grandchildren and siblings will be in my prayer. You are all very lucky to have had him as for such a long time. I'm sure you will cherish all the memories. God Bless you all.

I remember earning extra credit in fourth grade science by getting up early and watching the 6:00 a.m. news with my mother. I recorded the barometric pressure for a month to get a higher science grade! Nash Roberts was the weatherman at that time. I am now 53 years old! God Bless Him for his service to the people of the Gulf Coast. May he rest in peace.

I started watching Mr Roberts when I was a small child back in the early 1950's on WDSU-TV with Mel Leavitt doing the sports and Mr Roberts doing the weather. The sponsor was JAX Brewing Co.
I always have said that while other meteorologists needed their computer models to tell us where the hurricanes were going, all Mr Roberts needed was a marker, a map, and a straight edge.
He has been a part of my life as a television personality for a very long time, and I wish all of you the best comfort in God's sustaining love.

Growing up in Biloxi, my parents listened to Nash Roberts every day. Whatever he said, you could count on it. He knew more about the weather then than all these so called "experts" do now. When it came to hurricanes, there was only one question I heard around Biloxi, "Where did Nash say it was going?" What a legend. May God bless and comfort all the Roberts family.

Nash Roberts was the person my family listened to when the weather got bad. There were two men on the news to whom one could listen and trust implicitly, Walter Cronkite and Nash Roberts. Nash's dry erase board, marker, and pointer were worth more than any super doppler. After he retired, when he did appear with weather, that was the sure sign that it was time to pay attention. He was always professional, always calm, and always to be trusted, and as far as I remember, always right. He was an icon in his field. I am sorry for his loss. You have my sympathy.

I, along with many other residents of New Orleans, grew up listening to, watching and trusting Nash Roberts. He was always right on the mark with his forecasts. Obviously, from the other comments made in his guest book, he was also a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend as well. I just know that the sun was shining brightly when Nash walked through the Pearly Gates into the arms of God and his wife Lydia. Rest in peace, job well done.

My condolences to the Roberts family in their time of sorrow. I grew up watching Nash " The Human Barometer" Roberts draw, chart and plot many a hurricane on WWL-TV and loved it. He made me love it, and I learned a lot I know I'm the only one in the family that everyone calls to see what's going to happen with storms because of Nash. I hope you all know how many people truly loved Nash and he will truly be missed.

Nash Roberts will never be forgotten. He touched me and many others in so many ways -- watching his black markers on his maps during hurricanes, freezes, etc. We even bought trees from his Christmas tree farm on the northshore before we knew Nash owned the farm! What a gem of a man. God bless the entire Roberts' family

To the Roberts family:
We are all saddened by the loss of Nash. Not only was he a renaissance man, and a local legend, he was a dear friend to all. Every time he came on WWL-TV during hurricane seasons, he not only reassured us, he calmed us, and even educated us, whether it was about the finer points of hurricanes, or just the everyday weather forecast. GOD BLESS YOU, NASH.

To the Roberts family:
All of us in New Orleans are saddened by the loss of Nash. He was not only a legend, but a dear friend, on both good weather days and bad. Every time he came on WWL-TV and talked about hurricanes, he not only educated us, but also allayed our fears about them (even helping us to give a sense of respect to them). His legacy will NEVER be forgotten.

I also grew up watching Nash and his weather reports. I tell you what, when the TV announced, "And now Nash Roberts with the Weather", the whole family would come running to sit in front of the TV to watch him write on the board with his "squeaky" marker. By watching him explain how the High and Low pressures worked, we all learned how to figure out the weather for the next day or upcoming week, and I still use that knowledge to this day. Thank you Mr. Nash Roberts for teaching your viewers how to read the weather, especially down here in Hurricane Country! My sincere sympathy to the entire Roberts family and friends.

For those of us who grew up in New Orleans with Nash Roberts as the best source of weather information, especially during hurricane season, his loss is a piece of our history chipped away with the tide. But know that he was an enormous figure to many of us, a man we admired and loved. He will always be part of New Orleans folklore. Nash Roberts was "One of the good guys". You could tell he truly cared about his audience. He wasn't one of these weathermen that get on tv and try to alarm everyone from the start. He would tell it exactly like it was and he got it right every time.
He was a legend in his own time and he will be missed.
Prayers to his family but most of all, remember, he has been reunited with the love of his life so I'm sure he's a happy man once again.
Please be happy for him.
