Nathan Blomquist Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 14 to Apr. 15, 2010.
Blomquist, Nathan 1983 - 2010 age 27, of Bloomington, formerly of Shakopee. Nathan died suddenly on April 12, having lived a large life filled with zest, curiosity and determination. He loved outdoor activities from winter camping in the BWCAW to trail building with AmeriCorps, fighting forest fires, building fences, a tour of duty with the 3rd Infantry 8th Cavalry in Iraq and a lineman apprenticeship. Nathan was a dedicated and generous friend who brightened a room with his infectious smile and welcoming attitude. His sharp intellect explored and collected enormous amounts of diverse information, which he delighted in sharing. He will be sorely missed by a close group of friends in addition to his family. He is survived by his parents, Gerald & Elle; brothers, Jason (Andrea) and Brandon (Katie); his lady friend, Ami Lawin; grandparents, Bernice Blomquist and Wilbur Goeke; aunts, uncles, 8 cousins. Preceded in death by a grandfather, Ernest Blomquist and grandmother, Caroline Goeke. Funeral service Saturday, 4 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shakopee. Private family interment with honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 4-8 PM at the McNearney Funeral Home, 1220 E. Third Ave., Shakopee, and at the church one hour prior to the service. McNearney Funeral Home 952-445-2755 www.mcnearneyfuneralhome.com

Nate's family and friends:

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Nate's passing this afternoon. I am so sorry for your loss. I served with Nate on his AmeriCorps*NCCC team and have many fond memories of him. I've actually been sitting here smiling for a few minutes now thinking about my favorite memories of Nate. He was a neat guy and I know that he will be missed by all who knew him. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Sincerely, Cara Simpkins

There are no words to ease the pain, there is nothing to reason with - why?
My wish for you is that you find some comfort as days pass hoping the pain does ease abit and his memory will be a happy one forever. And when you do speak of him, it will be of complete pride and love - because he loves you and proud you are his parents.
