Nathan Cleveland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 8, 2017.
Nathan Blake Cleveland, 44, passed away on March 3, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Nathan was born in Salt Lake City on February 19, 1973 to Richard and Marilyn (Cushing) Cleveland. He married his sweetheart, Laura (Giometta), on March 16, 2010. He is survived by his parents and children, Andrew, Anna, Jack and Olivia; also survived by brothers Rick (Shelley), Michael, and Ryan (Janell) and sisters Aimee Bovee (Blaine) and Laura Nielsen (Todd).

Nathan was a gentle soul who spent his life in service to others. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Austria and was later called to open the country of Albania with five other missionaries. He cherished the people of Albania and the lifelong connections he made there. Nathan also served in many other callings including Elder's Quorum President and Instructor and as a Young Men Counselor. Most recently, he served as a High Councilman in the Riverside Stake of Salt Lake City. Nathan had a strong and unwavering dedication to the Lord and to His Church. He always tried to lift others and fulfill his responsibilities and duties in a way that would please God, even when his body limited his efforts.

Nathan graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Linguistics. He had many artistic talents and used those in both professional and personal pursuits. He also enjoyed playing and watching tennis, seeing movies and hanging out and playing with his children who were the lights of his life. He and his wife Laura loved trying out new restaurants, traveling and spending time with friends. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his closest family members.

Nathan's unexpected absence leaves a hole for his family and friends that will be filled with memories of his smile, his love and the influence he had on so many people. He was an excellent example for his kids and will always be a hero to them. To serve others even in death, Nathan donated his body to be used for medical research. We know that his life was an acceptable offering to His Heavenly Father.

A memorial to celebrate Nathan's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Layton Creekside Stake Center, 1480 Phillips Street, Kaysville, Utah.
