I wouldn't be the person I am without Nate. Because of him, a shy 14 year old girl learned to come out of her shell. He will always live in my heart.

I'm so sad to hear this. I used to have many conversations with him during art class with Mrs. Gugal. He was so creative. Prayers to all the family.

Nathan was the love of my life. He gave me a brother in Justin, a sister in Emily, and a mom and Dad in Beverly and Richard. They accepted me as one of their own, and for the last five years we shared love, laughter, good times and bad. He gave me a beautiful Ohana of friends...he gave me art and poetry, and so much laughter and strength. For all of these things I am eternally grateful. I will see him when my time comes. He will be waiting...and I will be home with him. Love you all, and I'm with you.

25 years of knowing and loving Nathan.. I wish I had known more, I wish I could have done more. Thank you for giving him such a well loved family, and well loved life. Thank you for the last six weeks, they weren't enough, but it was enough to build a gallery.
I'm so sorry

Nate opened my eyes to a world beyond the small town of Ames. He had an expansive way of looking at life and the world and he was willing to jump into things head first. Goodbye Nate. We love you.

My heart is with everyone who loved and enjoyed Nathan. He was a great inspiration in art and at living an interesting, varied life. This is a terrible loss for us all.

I remember when he asked me why I wore earrings. That was an interesting conversation.
