We all really miss Naveed. I think about him every day. Maybe its that I have him with me. He didnt bring attention to himself but he was impactful. I miss him. I think all the time about his kindness, considerate ways and gentleness. I have so many images of him in my head - in karate, standing between his grandfathers legs when we were all sitting around the dining table, his mom making sure he ate healthy food at Disney World, how his younger cousins couldnt get enough of him at the beach and how patient he was with them, how he visited with his grandparents on road trips, how he would say his aunts (my sisters name), etc. I wish he was still physically present. I never predicted that he would be intermingled in my thoughts on a daily basis throughout the day since he passed on but he is. His life will always be a blessing. I want to think of him without any sadness because what a truly awesome, wonderful person he was. He blessed us by being himself.
Happy Birthday Naveed!

Naveed was a very kind and thoughtful person, both our kids Aarav (10) and Siyona (6) adored him very much. Specially Siyona would hug him at times and during the class share all that happened during the week. He was very calm, thoughtful and smiling all the time. We will miss him very much, we pray for his soul to rest in peace and provide strength to his family.

Words cant describe this loss. Naveed was a great coach and friend. Naveed wasn't only a tennis coach, he was a loving and caring friend who taught me more than just how to hit a ball across the net. He taught me how to live my life to the fullest and gave advice about how to conquer obstacles in life. I am going to miss you coaching my USTA teams and making everlasting memories with you. I will never forget the advice you gave me throughout the several years you coached me. You were there for me since day one and since then, I have grown and learned so much from you. I hope you're in Heaven watching over all of us. May you Rest in Peace.

Those were the days before I had a smart phone, so I have no pictures of that time.
My children and I were in Battlecreek to visit my aunt, Naveed's grandmother and my uncle, at Easter many years ago. The house was filled with the aroma of food and there was another family visiting. I remember he had visited one day and evening that weekend, and the children spent time with him in the rec room. They had played table tennis (ping pong) and talked.
Although I did not meet him after that, I knew Naveed through photographs shared by his mom, and the pride in my aunt's voice, the joy she got from always sharing his milestones. She used to say she would have wanted to bring him to visit with her but he was allergic to cats. I remembered that now.
I see the outpouring of love and respect for this young man, post after post, on social media and in this space - I did not know him like many here.
Today my sister, Candida, grieves, and with her and the family, so do I.
Rest in Peace, beta.

It was a tremendous pleasure to work with Naveed while coaching the Rudolf Steiner High School tennis team. He was a kind-hearted young man with a true talent for working with young people. I was so impressed by Naveed's curiosity about life. He had a true desire to learn more about each player, the process of coaching, and especially the mental aspects of the game.
It a huge loss that he is no longer with us. My heart goes out to his family, friends, co-workers, and the students who loved being on-court with Naveed. He will always be missed.

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
