My condolences to Neil`s family. Sending prayers, love and hugs to you all. I knew Neil through chronic pain anonymous. I visited with him in meetings many times over the last 18 months. We called each other occasionally to give each other support. I love Neil and I identified with his struggles. I have the same mental illness so, I felt like he was my friend, and I dearly loved him.
I haven´t seen him in a meeting or had contact with him for at least the last three months. I´ve been asking other members if they had been in contact with him and no one had. Today, August 9, 2024 I thought occurred to me to look through the obituaries and I found Neil. It greatly saddens me and hurts my heart to know that he has passed. I am relieved and grateful that he is not suffering anymore. I believe he is at peace and I´m grateful that he is not in pain, spiritual pain, emotional pain, and physical pain anymore .
I just want the family members to know. I am praying for them. I´m praying for your comfort. I´m praying that you can reach out to the higher power of your understanding for solace.
God bless Neil! May he rest in peace.

I remember "gifted STEM student" Neil who joined IMSA in our pioneering early years. His academic talent was obvious, and he contributed much to his peers and to our community. We reconnected years later and had several meaningful conversations. My heart is with all who loved him. May his soul be at peace.

Neil is someone I recall as being a fantastically smart, often whimsical, and extremely well-liked member of IMSA´s brave, second class. He will be missed by all his high school and UIUC college friends as someone who enjoyed hanging out and who contributed much to our formative years.
One brief Neil anecdote: I first met Neil in fourth grade at a computer competition in the Peoria-Chillicothe area. Three person teams were given BASIC language programming tasks to solve using Apple IIE and Radio Shack computers. My team took second with 40 out of 100 points, satisfied at having solved 2 of 5 problems. Neil, who entered as the only single-person team, won with 99 points. Respect!

Neil was talented, eclectic and iconoclastic. Perhaps my favorite gesture on his part was when he composed and performed a piece for my wedding with Melissa. He also volunteered to figure out how to replace the batteries in our phones, which he accomplished with finesse. We had some meaningful, occasionally hilarious conversations about the state of Texas, the US and the world. He had his own way of thinking, that's for sure. I've found a couple few from when Neil and Melissa were kids. Enjoy!

Melissa and Bella are dear friends to our family. My grandfather was a visiting professor from India at Urbana-Champaign. That experience is why we all came to the US. We loved connecting on the fact that Melissa and Bella had Indian in their ancestry. Would have loved to have known Neil. Wish him peace and send love to his family and friends.

A shooting star who shined his warm smile bright. I got it in full effect as Melissa, Bella and I spent a wonderful weekend with him traipsing around San Francisco celebrating his 50th birthday. I cherished the time then and I’ll carry the memory with me forever. Thank you for being a part of my life, Neil. Sending lots and lots of love and my deepest condolences to his family and all of those close to him.
