Dr. Mitchell was my first experience in the world of psychiatry, and he made it a wonderful experience. I was self-referred, and I picked his name out of the Fayetteville phone book simply because I liked his name. It was a excellent choice; I will never forget my experience with him. He helped immensely. i was especially captivated by the black and white photos of his daughters that hung on the wall in his office.

I had the strangest dream about Dr. Mitchell last night. I haven't thought of him in many years, yet last night, my dream took place at his Fayetteville home/clinic - where I worked in 1997. I vividly remember driving up the long driveway, around the pond that always had geese, and to the back entrance of the office. Not sure why the dream occurred, but I have fond memories of him, his stoic but funny demeanor, how he kept it real with the adult patients, but had a softer approach with the kids. His obituary truly captures a remarkable man and life.

Dr. Mitchell turned my life around! I entered Highland Hospital in 1969 as young teen, going strongly the wrong direction. After second visit, I did an about-face, not wanting to disappoint him, as I already respected him so immensely, with his ultimate intelligence. He was so handsome, gentle, and had a delectable accent. In fact I just heard his accent in Irish poet Longley, which is what caused me to finally do a successful search for him. RIP!
Met his daughters once in about '72, but I scared one, as I still had so much adolescent acne. That was ok. It was very good to see him again briefly, and his family finally.
I am forever indebted to him!

Enjoyed his approach and teaching. I was able to introduce my son to him in 2016

So sad to hear of Dr. Mitchell's passing.....he was a vital asset to his profession while living in Fayetteville. He spoke often of his two daughters whom he visited as often as possible. May he rest in peace.
