To Matt and Neil's Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Neil. I have great memories of Neil which I am going to share with you.
I went to Turner School with Neil. He was the first person who ever sent me a love letter in the mail (and we were in First Grade!!!). Neil used to try to sit next to me at lunch sometimes. Once in a while he would bring an extra twinkie for me b/c he knew I liked them and maybe would sit by him then! Also, one winter day after school Matt and some of his friends cornered me in the schoolyard. They told me I had a choice to make. I could either "Kiss Neil" OR "Get a White-wash in the snow" if I didnt choose to kiss Neil! (For the record, I chose the whitewash!!)
Neil was the smartest kid in our class. But sometimes he didn't do his homework. He once told me that he cried in second grade after the teacher yelled at him. Apparently he had not finished his "Skillpack" homework and had gotten in trouble for that. (He told me this story in fifth grade, and he thought it was funny that he had cried over that!). He was also the last kid in our class to lose his baby teeth! Isn't it funny what we remember? I just smile when I think of these things. I am glad to have known him.
I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Tanya (Brooks) Greco
