I´ve just learnt of Neil´s passing.
My sincere condolences to his family. We were great mates at Auckland University and we lost contact when I emigrated to Melbourne back in 1982.

Neil and I were in the same class at Birkdale College throughout our college years. I can see and hear him in my mind's eye now - always friendly, laughing and smiling. I have been so sorry to hear the shocking news of his passing. Sincere condolences to Mrs Jean Swanson, Rochelle, and the rest of his family.

Swanny, my old mate since we were 13 in Mr Josey's team together, met up again in the early 90's in Bonnie Ladd's team, my kids looked up to you & enjoyed visiting Uncle Swanny at Lauderdale Rd. Love & thoughts with all your family. RIP my friend. CT

Such disbelief and shock. Really really sad. Will be so missed by many, his family,friends and the primary school children whom loved him as their teacher. His reputation as a great teacher preceded him.
I will miss our chats we´ve had over many years, since first knowing Neil as my friend Sharon´s big brother, and when phoning their home got to be known by the nic-name allocated to me by the two Neil´s.

Our heartfelt condolences to you Rochelle and the wider family. Neil taught my oldest at Verran Primary for 2 years. He was the best teacher my son had in his 11-year school journey. We were shocked and so saddened to hear of Neil´s sudden passing he was a great guy and a wonderful teacher and will be widely missed .
