Dear Nellie Friend....You were my best friend at DOJ. You took me home one day for a most incredible lunch of tortillas and refried beans...Such good memories. And all our holiday cards. Even though I'm in Utah, I miss your sweet personality a lot. The heavens will enjoy you. Llana

My Tia Nellie had the kindest heart. She was one of the first to be there for me when my grandma (her sister) passed away and I will always be grateful to have had her in my life during that time. I love you and will miss you dearly.

I knew Nellie through a mutual friend, Dee Brich; Nellie´s warm heart did not know any strangers. She had a way of making you feel loved and valued as soon as she met you.
She will be sorely missed!

There are to too many memories of my Tia, whom I was fortunate to make memories with.... My fondest memory that stands out was our time at the Tejano Festival every Labor Day weekend with her and my Tia Lupe and my Tio Joe... one time we all got to hear the sounds of Little Joe & Familia snd Ramón Ayala ! Her sweet gentle nature and genuine presence will be sorely missed. RIP QUERIDA

My late husband, Henry, and I have known the Basquez family for many years. They have been pillars of St. Paul and welcomed us when we began in 1989 or so. I loved her smile and her loving ways. The last time I saw her was about 2 months ago and she hugged me. I miss her! I am so sorry, Tony! May God bless all who love this beautiful woman of God!

I will always cherish the memories Nellie and I made in my pool when she lived across the street from me and would come over practically every day. We´d dance in the pool and do exercises to Mexican music played on my Bluetooth. I´ll truly miss those days. Sometimes our niece Pam would join us. Another cherished memory is of when we were children, Blossom age 4, Nellie age 3 and myself age 8. We were best buds and spent hours in the bamboos that grew in our home, where the chickens slept, and played house. Our furniture was wooden tomato boxes and our play dishes were the lids from mom´s canning jars. Our food, tortillas. I was big sis as I would always remain. We didn´t realize we were so poor because we had so much love. I´m missing you sisters.

My best memory was April 2023 she went to Pasadena, CA with me because my husband had to back out and I had already paid for him. We attended the Catholic Daughters State Convention and we had so much fun. She was a great help to me in my court and as a friend. I will always remember her in my heart and will miss her beautiful smile when we saw each other.

One of my favorite memories with Nellie was in my backyard. Drinking wine, swimming, listening to oldies and telling each other secrets. She was my Tia and best friend and she took a piece of my heart with her. Rest in piece Auntie until we meet again to share more secrets. Angie B

Every year and every holiday that she would take the time to send my family a card and a note. With prayers and blessings .
I was fortunate enough to get to know her, and cherish the laughters when we would play white elephant during Christmas.
I am thankful and blessed to have known her

We would always make tamales at my house every Christmas with my daughter and Grandchildren. She would always be wearing her Santa helper hat and Christmas sweater. Miss you Momma!
