Nelly Maria Gonzalez De Rodriguez passed away peacefully at home in Houston, Texas, on June 21, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 77.

Born on January 18, 1948, in Monterrey, Mexico, Nelly was the beloved daughter of the late Jesus Rodriguez Cantu and Lorenza Perez de Rodriguez. Her early years were filled with dreams of becoming a ballerina, a reflection of the grace, strength, and beauty that would define her throughout her life.

At just 15 years old, she met the love of her life, Felix Salvador Gonzalez, who was 16 at the time. Their enduring love story led to a joyful marriage and a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion. Together, they raised six children and were blessed with 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Nelly was the heart of her family-an extraordinary wife, mother, and friend. She had a gift for making people feel seen, fed, and loved. Her passion for cooking wasn't just a talent; it was an expression of her love and care for others. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and healing. Known to many as a quiet superhero, Nelly had the rare ability to lift others even when carrying her own burdens. She gave without asking, loved without limit, and always put others before herself.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Felix Salvador Gonzalez, her children Felix Salvador Gonzalez Jr., Oscar Gonzalez, Nellie Gonzalez Happ, Marissa Solórzano, Selene Gonzalez, and Jenice Gonzalez, along with her 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Nelly was preceded in death by her parents and several beloved siblings, who surely welcomed her with open arms.

Nelly lived with quiet grace and left a legacy of love. She will be remembered for her strength, her warmth, and her selfless heart. She was our guiding light-and now she rests in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the American Diabetes Association, or organizations dedicated to restoring vision through medical research-all causes that touched Nelly's life deeply.

For those of you who wish to send floral tributes, arrangements may be delivered to the church on the day of service. Please ensure flowers arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. to allow proper placement before the ceremony begins.
