Nicholas Javier Benham-Araya

Tucson - Nicholas Javier Benham-Araya, 39, died July 3, 2025, in Tucson, where he was born December 5, 1985. His life was a tapestry of love and strength that touched all who knew him. Nick graduated from CDO High School and later pursued his passion at the Lancaster School of Cosmetology in PA. His creativity, dedication and wizardry with hair color left a lasting impression. He and husband Kevin, celebrated their 20th anniversary on June 4. Nick was a light to all. His strength was boundless. Time and again, he surprised those who underestimated him. He is lovingly remembered by his husband Kevin Benham-Araya, his mother Constance Freeland; his brother David Benitez; his beloved grandmother Valerie Garcia; his cousins Georgia, Crystal, Jessica, her husband Zach and "other mothers" Andrea Araya, Lois and Brenda. Three special girls Harmony, Julia and Nevaeh he called the lights of his life. He also held a special place for Amanda, Rebecca, and Sarah, the "wicked stepsisters," a joke reflecting their close bond. He loved his family, and their absence at the end didn't diminish that love. He joins dad Sergio Araya; grandmother Carol Porter; and brother Robert for a hell of a party. A memorial will be held on October 25. Call 520-580-6425 for info.
