Nicholas Meyers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 5, 2025.
Nicholas James "Nick" Meyers, born November 9, 1984, in Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away on June 26, 2025, in Iowa city, Iowa. He was 40 years old.

Nick spent his early years in the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (EBF) school district before transferring to Albia High School for his senior year, But transfered back and graduating at EBF schools with the Class of 2003. His roots remained firmly planted in Iowa throughout his life, and he built lasting connections across the communities of Oskaloosa, Eddyville, and beyond.

Nick was known for his adventurous spirit and love for life's simple pleasures. Whether he was cruzing gravel roads with music playing loud, rock hunting under open skies, or testing his luck with scratch tickets and casino visits, Nick embraced every moment with enthusiasm. He had a knack for turning even the smallest wager into a good time-luck always seemed to be on his side.

Though his time here was far too short, Nick left a lasting impression on those around him. He was a solid guy-dependable and loyal-and he never hesitated to step up when someone needed help. His presence brought comfort and laughter to many.

Nick is lovingly remembered by his mother, Leslie Meyers of Des Moines; his children: Jaylyn Joynes of Cedar Rapids, Seira Meyers and Chase Meyers of Oskaloosa; his girlfriend Megan Farver of Grinnell; and family friend and Seira and Chase Meyers mother Johanna Donovan of Oskaloosa. He is also survived by his aunt Kellee Cox-Benedict of Missouri; uncle Bill Luckett of Oskaloosa; aunt Micki Cox-Urton of Kansas; uncle Bob and aunt Sherri Luckett of Eddyville; aunt Carla Holliday of Oskaloosa; along with many cousins and countless friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father William Lee Meyers Sr. of Oskaloosa; brother Travis Luckett of Eddyville; grandparents Helen and Lloyd Meyers of Oskaloosa; grandmother Barbara Cox of Eddyville; and grandfather Earl Luckett of Florida.

A celebration of Nick's life will be held at a later date to honor the memories shared with him.

May Nicholas's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of the joy he brought into the world. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 02:00 PM at Edmunson park, under the rotary shelter 1420 11th Ave. W. All are welcome to join us in Nick celebration.
