Nicholas Peter Radford

February 12, 1994 - October 23, 2024

From the time he was born, Nick felt passionate about his people - the family and friends he held close. As a child, he loved spending time with his cousins, and always cried when play time came to an end. He was easy-going, always up for anything. He loved all things Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, which fostered the sense of adventure that Nick applied to everything in his life. The force was strong with this one.

Nick's love of golden oldies started when he worked at Tom Wahl's at the age of 15, rising to his coveted title, Manager Nick. He loved working as a part of a team and made life-long friends with his co-workers.

Nick's passion for nature and trees started at Finger Lakes Community College where he spent two years from 2012 to 2014. He continued his education when he transferred to SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, graduating in 2016 with a degree in Conservation Biology.

After graduation, Nick began his career at Terrestrial Environmental Services, and then spent a summer in Long Island as a boat dockhand for "the stars." He then proudly worked as a Scientist at Barton & Loguidice. Nick was a deeply intuitive biologist, beloved by his teammates, and especially passionate about botany.

Nick's commitment to science started early in life, choosing to be a participant in research with the National Institute of Health. Nick's contribution helped to deepen medical understanding which will benefit future patients.

Nick's life was filled with adventure. He was happiest when he was out in nature, spending time with friends, and blasting tunes. He loved spending time with his family, enjoying holidays, vacations, concerts, and just hanging out.

Nick loved danger. He was protective, loyal, and dedicated. He was passionate and funny and gentle and obstinate. Nick was sassy and surly, a diva, a rascal, and, so, so kind. He was imaginative and adventurous and goofy. Nick was magnetic, charismatic, and sweet. He was musical and artistic, a fashionista, and a DJ extraordinaire. Nick was fearless and daring. He was sparkly-eyed. Nick was a lover, not a fighter, and so damn cute. But above all, he was relentless.

Nick is survived by his beloved siblings Austin, Chelsea, and Sophia, his devoted parents Julie & Steve Gissin, and father Steve Radford, as well as furry friends Apollo, Nobby, and Junebug. Nick leaves behind deeply loved family, friends, and a huge community of people whose lives he touched in so many meaningful ways. TEAMNICK is and always will be a fellowship of love.

Nick has left the forest, but please keep sending him all the love, light, moonbeams, stardust, magic, laughter, indie music jams, rainbows, and songbirds. He is whole, well, and safe. Nick is held and cherished by the earth, the trees, and the people he loves. When you see a fox, think of Nick.

Nothing is worth more than this day.

Love to all

One of my fondest memories of Nick is dancing with him and friends at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY. I saw my first Rubblebucket concert with him and it was the best! Since then I´ve been to at least 4 more of their shows and it always reminds me of that sweet sweet time in college surrounded by such a good group of friends.
Nick was a great dancer. He had such good rhythm, charisma, and confidence. It was contagious. You couldn´t help but join with a smile.
It´s hard to believe he is gone. My heart breaks for his family.
The time I spent with him in College will forever be in my heart.

I will never forget you Nick. Meeting you and taking care of you was one of the biggest blessings for me. You taught me more than you´ll ever know, and the kindness you and your family shown me each and every day while we navigated your challenges is something I will carry with me forever. You were the kindest soul, with the biggest hearts and most contagious smile, and you always had the best nail art :) The world will not be the same without you in it, but it will also never be the same because you were in it.

I first met Nick when he was about 6 years old. I was so impressed with the warmth and friendliness of the little guy. Each time I met him I found him to be warm, friendly and interesting. As I came to know all of the family I understood that that was a trait of all of the Steve and Julie family. The love and loyalty continue to be outstanding! I am so glad I knew Nick and he will remain in my memory and thoughts.

Thinking of you guys during this time. Sending lots of love & hugs your way.

May Nick be running through the greenest of green forests with a skulk of foxes (yes, I googled the proper name for a group of foxes). I have and forever will hold the memories I shared with Nick close to my heart-- from hanging out with our friends and watching movies on the weekends to us stressing about him making it home before 9PM because he had just gotten his driver's license. It's difficult to articulate my feelings because none of this seems real. Nick's life was a life lost way too soon. His kindness, positivity, creativity, and relentlessness are just some of the qualities that I admire about him. His legacy will continue to impact the lives of others on a daily basis through memories, stories, and photos. Sweet Nick, you have touched the lives of so many people and we all love you so so much.

Nick was the kindest person I have ever met in my life. He met even those who wronged him with kindness and grace, and I will take that with me the rest of my life. He is and will always be precious to me. I have him to thank for some of the happiest days of my life. I love you Nick.
