Nicholas Spagnuolo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2025.
Nicholas Buys Spagnuolo , age 45 years, died Friday, July 18th, 2025 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Michigan. Nicholas died from severe complications from diabetes and a rare autoimmune disease. Nicholas was born on May 22, 1980 to his loving parents Susan and Frank Spagnuolo. He was born at McPherson hospital located in Howell, Michigan. He was the youngest of 10 children. Nicholas had 4 brothers and 5 sisters who all adored their little brother "Nick." Nick was a very caring and giving person. He often put others first while neglecting his own needs and well being. He was a wonderful son, brother, cousin, uncle, friend and boyfriend. His hobbies included woodworking, home improvement and restoring a 1984 Ford Mustang convertible he called "Foxy." Nick was the most artistic of the family and loved photography and played the electric guitar before his neuropathy stole his hand dexterity. He and his nephew, Genarro Spagnuolo, loved going to the movies every week and made a point to see all of the big blockbusters on opening day. Nick loved the great outdoors as well and would ride his bike at night because he loved the solitude and freedom that it gave him. He enjoyed people and every job he ever worked was people orientated. In his early years of working he worked in retail sales and later became a security guard. He had an Associates Degree in General Studies along with a Welding and Auto Body Certificate from Washtenaw Community College in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Nicholas will be sadly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. He was generous to a fault. He would give to others while going without things for himself. He hated it when others worried or fussed over him because he never wanted to cause anyone pain. It is a tragedy that his life ended so young. He wanted to do so many things and his life was really just getting started doing kind things. Nicholas was preceded in death by his father Frank Spagnuolo, his mother Susan Spagnuolo, brother Anthony Spagnuolo and nephew Oliver Salfate. He is survived by his 8 siblings Susan Charron (Paul), Frank Spagnuolo (Angela), Mark Spagnuolo (Tracy), Jennifer Fields, Cynthia Salfate (Enrique), Elizabeth Dudley (Robert), Pat Spagnuolo (Adriana), Leticia Spagnuolo, his girlfriend Kim Fischer and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers or donations please do a kind act or help someone in need. That is what Nicholas would want. He was always trying to make things better for others even on his worst day.

A small service for friends and family will be held at the All Saints Chapel, 114 South Walnut Street, Howell Michigan on Sunday August 10th, 2025 from 2-3 PM, with a luncheon to follow.

Oh my gosh, I´m so very sorry to read this sad news. I always enjoyed talking to Nick at Walmart. What a great person! Now I feel even worse, I never even knew he was a Spagnuolo! I met him many years ago when he was a teenager. I had to call his mom, Sue, to come pick him up. (I don´t think she was too happy at the time --teens). Come to find out, my husband at the time, had babysat for him years earlier! Small world. My condolences and prayers to all of his family and friends. He certainly was a special human being with a wonderful heart.

Nick was my baby brother. We did so much together in the last 45 years. I still can´t believe he is gone.

Nick was very much a cheerful person who thrived in helping others, yes, even when he did not feel well himself. He will be missed by so many, and so happy to have time with his father.

I worked with Nick at Walmart. He was quiet but always nice. I am saddened to hear of his passing. Thoughts are with his family and girlfriend at this difficult time.

I worked with Nick and loved our conversations! It is true that he worried about others if he saw them hurting he would be the first to tell them things will get better! I was lucky enough to get a one of a kind wooden box made and painted by Nick for Christmas a couple years ago I will treasure it forever! Thank you Nick for being my friend and especially for being you!
