Nicholas Wolfcale Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2024.
Nicholas "Nick" James Wolfcale was born in Chicago, Il on November 17th, 1950 and after a brief illness, died on January 18, 2024. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Patti) LaBonte Wolfcale, son James Wolfcale, and daughter Lindsey Wolfcale all of Atlanta. He is also survived by his brother Timothy Wolfcale of Austin, TX. He was predeceased by his father James Wolfcale and mother Dorothy Trierweiler.

On March 25th, 1972 Nick and Patti married in Orlando, FL and were married for 51 years. Nick attended the University of Florida and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Architecture. After graduating, he and Patti relocated to Atlanta where he began a long and accomplished career at TVS, an architectural and design firm, where he ultimately was promoted to principal architect. During his later years with the firm and post-retirement, he worked in Mumbai, India overseeing completion of Jio World Centre, a sprawling residential, commercial project that includes a convention hall and cultural center, which he saw as the pinnacle of his career.

Nick's passions included camping, traveling, home renovation projects and the Florida Gators. At any given time, friends and neighbors could see Nick steadily working on a new kitchen, finishing the basement, building a deck or adding an interesting lanai to beautify the yard. Some of the family's fondest memories include traveling with Nick to France, Italy, Hawaii and India.

Nick was also very active in his Springlake Neighborhood Association by assisting in the refurbishment of neighborhood parks, encouraging the use of noise calming yard equipment and helping to build soapbox derby race cars for neighborhood children. After retiring he and the family thoroughly enjoyed a new travel trailer which they utilized for taking trips in the southeastern US.

Nick's memorial service was held for friends and family at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia on January 27, 2024. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.

I just now thought about trying to contact Nick and found his obituary.

I am truly heartbroken.

I worked with Nick at Sunland Training Center in Gainesville, Florida 50 years ago and had a few years of wonderful friendship with he and his wife Patti.
He was one of those rare people you meet in life that you have an unexplainable connection with. I greatly admired Nick and looked up to him in so many ways. I sit here full of regret to not have been able to hear his voice again. Nick was an unforgettable influence in my life, and I will forever be thankful to him.

My heart goes out to Patti and your children. I hope you are doing well, and know how much I treasure the wonderful memories that we share forever.
