I am deeply saddened to learn of Nicole's death. I was very fortunate to have her as a faculty advisor as a student while Editor of Law Review at UofO. We regularly relied on Nicole's advice and she was always a passionate advocate on our behalf. I will always cherish my memories of Nicole as a passionate trailblazer in international law and as a kind and thoughtful professor. My thoughts are with Nicole's partner and family.

My sincere condolences to Nicole's family and partner. I had the privilege of getting to know Nicole during a month long trip to the Soviet Union in the Summer of 1986. I have very fond memories of her company while jogging, swimming and visiting the sites in Leningrad. We had many chats. She was the voice of reason and compassion. I have not seen her since that summer, but I will remember her forever.

While our lives did not often intersect, you in Ottawa, me in Vancouver, I remember with great fondness meeting you at queer/feminist meetings over the years, and was so struck by your exuberance, laughter, and electric brain! I will continue to teach from your brilliant writings.

It was a gift to work and get to know Nicole at Women's Place and on the Hill. Thank you for your gift of commitment, tenacity and dedication to human rights and social justice. Thank you for the example of living life full out with purpose and passion.

To Lisa and family, my sincere condolences.

As a classmate of Nicole's from the Class of 1996 at Ottawa U.'s Faculty of Law, I have greatly admired Nicole's passion for, and contributions to, the law and her tremendous sense of equality and fairness for all living beings. To her family, I am deeply sorry for your loss - you are in my heart and prayers. She was remarkable in every sense of the word.

I am shocked & deeply saddened to learn of Nicole's death. We met as House of Commons Pages in 1981-82. My career took me back to NL & we lost touch...entirely my doing as Nicole was always so good at sending Christmas greetings & updates that eventually found their way to me as I moved repeatedly in recent years.
My deepest sympathies to you Lisa & to Nicole's family , friends , colleagues & students. A life lived fully, but cut much too short.
