Not sure what to say?

February 23, 2010

I have just heard the sad news of Nigel's passing. I joined the Army a year after Nigel and he was an inspiration to us all. I recall some good times in the Rock-Climbing group and I inherited Nigel's climbing helmet. Was looking forward very much to seeing him at the re-union this year. He will be missed by all.

I remember that a man named nigel showed up to practice one day and said that he had played rugby and would love to help coach us. The next thing i know is he had us picking up telephone poles that we used as a bench and running with them for conditioning. Nigel was a great man and a good friend to a bunch of young rugby players

Katherine,
Although I never had the honor of meeting you personally, I played rugby for Nigel. I was on the team when he first started. He had an incredible ability to motivate in a loving and christian way. He only ever talked about three things outside of rugby with us: God, love, and family. Nigel will be greatly missed by a young generation of ruggers and I will tell stories of him to my kids some day.
Condolences,

Dear Kathryn, Jake & Libby

just found out from Aly McCluskie about the shocking news about Nige; I had the good fortune to come across him and his unique style of management when I needed a bit direction and guidance. You two had such fun in your house (especially afer you had your white wine spritzer; life was never dull).

I knew how much he loved you and the children. Our thoughts and our love is with you at this time.

He was a truly lovely man.

Dear Kathryn and family,

Myself and Julie were very shocked to hear of Nigels sudden death. You may or not remember us but we served with him at Worthy Down and you both came to our wedding there. As Bill Herlihy says he was always larger than life and had a wonderful sense of humour . We know you will find some solace in the church but please accept our sincere condolences

Dear Kathryn and Family,
I was very sorry to learn of Nigel's death. I joined the Army on the same day as Nigel and it has come as no suprise to me that he was heavily involved with the church. He was a larger than life figure and during the 2 years I served with him he had a kind word for everyone and was always understanding of those less able than him. I was looking forward to seeing him at our 40 year reunion in April although I know he will be their with us in spirit. I wish you and your family all the best at this extremely sad time in your lives.

Dear Parker Family. We have never met but I knew Nigel well. We met the day that he joined the army and I was his house Sgt. Nigel was always so full of life and had a sense of humour that was so vital in the army; to add to that he was a thoroughly nice man. I last saw him just before he left the army and you all left for the states. The world will be a sadder place without Nigel. Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss. I have got some photos, somewhere in my home in the UK and if you would like copies I will scan them and let you have copies when I return from operations later in the year.

Kathy
We have just been informed about Nigel and this saddest of news. I joined the British Army with Nigel in 1970, and had the honour and privilege of knowing him and Kathy for many years. A giant of a man to his peers and truely respected and loved by everyone who met him. He was my friend and I will miss him. Our love and condonlences to Kathy and family, God be with you at this and all times.

Dear Kathryn,

I have just heard about the shocking death of Nigel. I first met Nigel when he was 16 years old on our first day in the Army, 40 years ago in September 2010. I think I can speak on behalf of all his military colleagues and say that he was a big man with even a bigger heart with an infectious sense of humour. I wish you and your family all the very best at this sad time

Kathryn and family,
I have always said probably the greatest contribution I made to the Pension Board was serving on the committee that hired Nigel. I will miss a great friend and a wise man who exemplified the joy of his faith. Brenda and I always enjoyed going out for seafood with Nigel here in FL. We pray God's promised comfort for your family. We will all miss him!

Several years ago while working for an attorney, there were occasions when I would talk to Nigel on the phone concerning mutual clients. One time, Nigel called our office to talk to me but one of the other gals answered the phone. She later told me that she thought Nigel had a very sexy voice. I told Nigel what the gal had said and his response was, "Well, too bad the body doesn't match the voice." Nigel was such a delight!

Kathryn, I'm so sorry for your loss. Many of us are praying for you and your children.

I was a trustee of the Board of Pensions when Nigel joined the team. It was immediately apparent that we had gained an invaluable help in our service to servants of the church. In every way, Nigel himself was a servant. He visited me in my office on January 28 and gave me such wise counsel and reassurance about my plan. I will always be grateful for his friendship and the opportunity I had to know him. I will miss Nigel and will keep your family in my prayers.

February 10, 2010

Nigel - you were one of the greatest men I have ever met, and your zest for life was always inspiring to me. As a coach, you were always pouring your heart out into the club; never giving less than what you had to give. You always challenged me to be the best I could. As a man of God, you were a leader to all of us. You will be dearly missed, friend. The legacy you have left will always be with me. Philippians 3:12-14 There was never a doubt in anyone's mind Who you were living for.

Throughout my retirement days I will be grateful for the investment counsel Nigel gave to me in managing my pension.
May you feel the love of God as you adjust to his absence. I am sorry for your loss.

Nigel was a Great Coach, a Great person, and most of all a Great Man of God! His faith shown through and was passed on to all of his ruggers!

Nigel, you will be missed by all of your friends and family. But we all know, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!

And now I will always know what "Line up abrest" means.......kinda

February 9, 2010

Kathryn & family,
Our deepest sympathies to you. It was Wayne's honor to get to know Nigel during his service as a trustee of the Board of Pensions. Nigel offered great wisdom and wit, and it was obvious he loved the Lord! His service to the church at large is immeasurable in his role with the Board. Know you are in our prayers today and in the coming days.

Not many people are recognized by a single name, but Nigel was. They don't make like this anymore. In his previous position, Nigel bounced on the trunks of cars to see if they would explode. He had a unique outlook on life and was an original in every way. His concern and interest in his fellow man was genuine, not forced. While studying for my CFP he was my biggest cheerleader, and the first person I called when I passed. "No surprise mate, I knew you'd do it." Never had that next lunch at the Golden House. My loss.

I am so sorry for the loss and the pain that you are all going thru. Nigel was one of the nicest, most caring people. I always looked forward to going with the group homes to Friendship Class at East Side as Nigel was always so uplifting and made each of the clients as well as myself feel good about ourselves and treated each and every person with love and respect. Nigel will be missed, but we all know that he will be looking down on us as our ray of sunshine. We should celebrate his life and the time that we all had with him. May the lord bring comfort, peace and strength to get you thru this. You are all in my prayers

When I told Nigel I was moving to Korea, he said to me "you know, they don't have rugby there.." This was a valid point, and it was sad enough not being able to play rugby for Nigel this season, let alone this. He was easily the best coach I ever had, and he was a great mentor and friend. I'm just happy I played with him as long as I could, but I wish I could know him longer. Peace to all family and friends who loved Nigel
