RIP Nigel, it was always a pleasure talking about football with you even though you weren't always complimentary about Newcastle United. You will be dearly missed.

One of Nigels favorite song's

William Blake in 1804

Jerusalem Hymn

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

Annabelle sang this to her dad 3 or 4 years ago when she was taking voice lessons

We think that Nige is now at peace from the pain - but I do not believe that! Nige will be up and at em. Free of pain he will be embracing the new reality, seeking the next adventure. He had such courage and in fact he had a remarkable life in such a short time, he lived his life well.
It is a terrible thing to live through for all of you - but you can be very proud of the way you handled that precious time. Nigel's courage and determination and the fact that he has put himself forward to trial drugs, drugs which in time will benefit others. He put himself forward for the sake of those he loved and the future! My last photograph of him was with the three children. That photograph was remarkable in that Nige - who was obviously in such pain yet he had the three children laughing!
God bless nephew I am so proud of you!
Aunty' Marg

And my tribute to all of you Sandra, Re, Hal, Andy, Dunc and Nick, and Sandra and Nige's friends - your courage, care and continuous support have made those last years truly memorable.

"Such terrible news. Condolences to all Nigel's family. Nigel was part of Birkenhead Park's 2nd XI that won the league in 1987. He went on to play in the 1st XI the next season and won the league there as well. He was a well liked member of the club."

We shall remember Nigel so fondly. Our family parties every Boxing Day were full of fun and joy. The games we shared with Nigel and the boys - snooker, Twister, cards - brought us all closer as a family. He was a special part of our lives. His courage, kindness, good humour and love of sport will shine on. Now...together with Uncle Bri. (The Monaghans)

I was so very shocked to hear of Nigel's death.

The news brings back many memories from the seventies and eighties. This picture shows Nigel at Old Trafford with my son, Andy, and their friends, Clive and Matt.

My thoughts are with you all at this desperately sad time.

All you had to do was play one game of football with Nigel (for or against) to know everything about him. All fight and heart and a great example of how to not pass quietly through life. He's gone too soon but he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Nigel.

Nigel had a heart of gold and always made us laugh on and off the field! He definitely poured his heart and soul into the United Club as a player, Board Member and running his team. They were his brothers. His smiles and wittiness will always be remembered! Now he has join the United Club in the great beyond so we know he will definitely be in good company. We thank you for all of the good times and will never forget you or Everton! Sandra and children you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Patty & Keith Crane

I am deeply saddened to learn of Nigel's death, following a long and courageous battle.

Nigel was my brother's contemporary. Back in 1973, they began Kingsley Prep School in Upton on the same day.

I picture Nigel as a handsome little boy with white-blond hair, his mischievous grin half-hidden by a floppy school cap.

I send my sympathy to all Nigel's loved ones, remembering in particular Renee and Hal.

Too little to be in this photo! But maybe watching from the pusher with Cousin Sue

Farewell Nigel, my youngest cousin. We haven't seen each other in a long time but it has been great catching up via social media. Fond memories of cricket games at Backford and Aunty Re allowing me to push you around the garden in your pusher! Rest in peace.

Nige - just too many memories mate. Too many fights, too many laughs, too many drinks and too many silly times and so many lessons learned. Thanks for them all.
It was and is a privilege and honour to have had you as my little brother. It was also an honour and privilege to share your final moments and I will never forget the peace that you finally found. Truly inspiring.
Cheers Nige and thanks for it all - You're never forgotten........ Skinny xx

To my little brother Nigel. We shared so many good times growing up and although it was less frequent in recent years due to the miles between us you were never ever far from our thoughts. Your determination to battle your illness, your love for Sandra and the kids and the way you kept contact with Mum & Dad however unwell you felt was an inspiration to us all.
We both share a passion for Everton Football Club and every time I watch them play now I will always think of you and know you will be watching from above.
Rest in peace Nige we miss you and always will Love Duncan & Christine xx
