Niki Pratt Obituary
The Funeral Memorial Service will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home, The Woodlands on Sunday June 1st. The service will begin at 2pm and the reception will follow. In Lieu of flowers, Niki would prefer donations to be made to charities that teach and support music for children.

I feel immeasurably sad that you are no longer with us, I still can't quite believe you are gone. You offered me your friendship at a time when I really needed it: that meant a lot to me and I will never forget it.
I'll always remember the happy times we spent at Sherrrardswood: coach trips to athletics and cross-country meets; messing around in drama - learning to waltz, the set collapsing and that incident with the smoke machine! Mostly I remember a shared love of music and you playing your guitar.
There are some people who bring a light so great into the world, that even after they are gone, the light remains. You were one of those people, you brought joy and laughter to all those who knew you. Niki you are greatly missed, but never forgotten - be at peace my friend.

I'm just hearing about this incredibly sad news. Niki was an extraordinary person. He was one of the smartest and curious people I've known. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He was always learning new things on his own and he loved to share his knowledge. Niki taught me how to build my own computer (after he built the first one for me) and to this day inspires me to figure out and learn new things. I first met Niki at Barton Creek Resort in the late 90's where we worked as AV techs. We became good friends and were always having a good time together while at work (we jokingly strutted down the conference center hallways while we hummed a funky tune). And even though, we were both in our early/mid 20's, I was amazed by all the fantastic stories and adventures Niki had already experienced while living overseas and the states. Outside of work, I have great memories of playing many rounds of disc golf and making music together (Niki was an awesome guitar player).
My heart goes out to Niki's family and friends. He will never be forgotten and will forever be loved and missed.

To Karen and family - Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Niki's passing is so sad but his memory will live on. A person with a lovely attitude to life. My deepest sympathies to all the family and especially to Karen.
What can I say about Niki that everyone doesn't already know. He was a great guy and good friend of mine through the years at Sherrardswood. I am still in shock at the news and can't ever begin to imagine how the family feel.

I am so deeply sad to hear the news of Niki's passing. Everyone at school absolutely loved him and I can still see him waving from the opposite platform, with his guitar at his side as I waited for my train home at the end of term. I am so very grateful that we caught up a few years ago by the power of social media. Niki was such a kind person and a real independent thinker, two of my very favourite qualities in a person. To my dear Aunt, Uncle, Karen and all. No matter how many minutes, hours or days that pass this still doesn't make any sense to us. I am so sorry to hear of Niki's death and for the sadness and loss that you have in your lives. You are all very much in my thoughts. I remember many hours spent in the outside TV room, playing the piano and angling the blow heater on the wall just so, so as to maximise its efficiency. Niki knew how to do that. I remember the hours we chewed up trying to get his digital watch (that had a proto-text messaging facility in 1991) to stop on one second precisely. I still play that game from time to time when I have a stopwatch in my hand. I remember the cassette versions of favourite albums that he brought back with him after each holiday that came from some market or another. Mostly, i remember a very tall, totally cool, left handed, guitar playing Niki.
I hope that the love and strength of friends and family help you all through these difficult times and that you are surrounded by people with whom you can share tears, love and smiles in remembrance.

you were blue, quiet and serious the first time we met in Tokyo. But when knowing you, I find you are still blue, but kind and gentle with the attractive English accent. I won't forget all the times we had supporting japan customers, running to catch the train, hours after hours debugging, endless conference calls, and the happiness drinking and talking and your smile.
I will let my kid know his dad had a good good friend he should make one for a life time. And friend, may you enjoy the new life without sorrow.

Niki my old mate I know our lives took us in different directions but the time I spent growing up with you,Karen and your Mum and Dad were the happiest times of my life. I had the pleasure of knowing Niki for a a number of years at Netlogic. He was always helpful, always smiling and always ready to go have a beer after a long day. He was a skilled engineer and was never too busy to help out when asked. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Rest in peace mate!

You made school that bit easier for me Niki- we shared the same surname, and you had most of the girls from our year in the palm of your hand at one time or another! I remember you being very kind, and having the time for people, and also fixing my shoelace in an English class- I think I swooned a little( I was 11/12 I think) I will always remember you as one cool dude who introduced me to Guns and Roses and DM boots, sleep well lovely boy, and Karen he was lucky having you as such a great sister, and vice versa I'm sure, sending you much love and he will be in my thoughts xx

Niki mate, can't believe you are gone,
There are very few people in life who profoundly affect the person you turn out to be, for me you were one of these. Not sure how we became friends, you were cool and much loved by everyone, I, well wasn't, but the time we spent together messing around in German, History, Physics, Tech, English and running around town when we should of been in school are high points of my school years.
That is even before I think about the History and French trips, Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica concerts and many other occasions we had a laugh outside school. One of my greatest mental images of you is you flying off the middle of the stair case, hair blowing backwards as you aimed a dead leg at me and the pat on the back you gave when somehow I managed to walk away.
So sad that we won't get to share these memories over a beer, it was always part of the plan to land on your doorstep as you did mine in '95. But the good times won't be forgotten, even 20 years on every time I taste a Heineken, smell a Malboro, wander through Kings Cross Station, hear Guns and Roses or my son playing the guitar I am transported back and I can only grin at the lasting ways in which you touched my life. Thanks for that mate and when my time comes I hope to find you waiting on the other side with a pint and a JD chaser for me.

Your call yesterday with the news of Niki was indeed a terrible loss. I still remember my trips to Singapore when Niki and Karen were so young and looking forward to their move from the UAE and eventual move to the States. I remember when Niki first picked up a guitar and his future was born. Please know that you are in my prayers daily and will always be a shoulder and a leaning post, should you need to talk in the weeks or months to come.

We were Bill and Ted, we were Slash and Axl, we were the very best of friends – you were like a brother to me – we had a very special bond. I am blessed with a great many happy memories of the years together at school; being idiots, listening to music, playing guitar, talking all night, planning our band “Uninvited”, setting off the fire alarm and evacuating the whole boarding house at 07:20 in the morning (I got the blame for that and had a long chat with the fire brigade chief!) and countless other things I won't mention. My wife and I were so looking forward to meeting up with you and Karen in August. I miss you and my mum especially misses you. You were “one in a million, yeah that's what you are” and will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Niki was a great pupil who was a pleasure to teach. He was honest & never underhand & a great kid to be around. He was a son any parent could only wish for & a great brother to Karen. I have fond memories of him taking part in all boarding house activities & sporting events. In my retirement book That was made for me, there is a photo someone gave me of Niki & his 'motley crew' in a dormitory which I look back on with fond memories.
