Nikolai Hykel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Nikolai Nnaemeka Hykel. Though his time with us was far too short, the joy, laughter, and love he brought to everyone he met will live on forever.

Nikolai is lovingly survived by his grandmother Guadalupe Ruiz, his devoted mother Brenda Salinas, his father and stepmother Richard and Klara Hykel, and his beloved brothers Yeremi and Liam Hykel. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family-aunts, uncles, and cousins-each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Nikki, as he was affectionately known, grew up surrounded by friends who became family. From his time in both New Mexico and Texas, Nikki built lasting friendships wherever he went. Time shared with Nikki was full of laughter as he was such a clown and made everyone smile. He had a goofy sense of humor and an endless supply of dorky pranks that made the moments with him brighter. A big teddy bear in every sense, he had an uncanny ability to make people feel seen and cherished. His eyes held a quiet tenderness and a soulful gaze and when he spoke with you, it was with his full heart, making you feel like the most important person in the world.

He was a fierce protector of those he loved. His mother was his constant support, and he held a strong love and affection for her. His younger brothers were his pride and joy, and he carried his love for them deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Texas on June 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., where we will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in honor of Nikolai's remarkable spirit. For location details please send an email to [email protected].

Though he may no longer walk beside us, Nikolai's love lives in every heart he touched. We will miss his hugs, his jokes, his big heart, and his unforgettable soul-but most of all, we will carry him with us always.

I´m so glad that you and Colby were friends, he loves you and your brothers. We loved watching you guys on the Hays High school powerlifting team. That was the year you guys had were so muscled up it looked like you had no necks. I still have one of Colbys T-shirts that you guys wore that had S.O.D. on ot and I never understood what it meant. Thank you for being a good friend to him. You guys take care of each other.
