LAVISTA, Neb. - Noble E. Moore, 99, LaVista, formerly of St. Joseph, died in his home on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, in LaVista.
Mr. Moore retired from the St. Joseph Light & Power Co. in 1974 after 24 years.
Born on a farm near Maysville, Mo., the youngest of six children, he attended schools in Fortescue and Mound City, Mo. He was graduated from Coleman Electrical School, Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Moore was engaged in the electrical motor machine business for 20 years in Davenport, Iowa. He was shop foreman for the Industrial Engineering and Electric Co. He designed and developed equipment for the company and held several patents.
Mr. Moore, who also was skilled in carpentry, remodeled and built several homes in the St. Joseph area. He became a skilled artist in oil painting after the age of 78.
He was a life member of Charity Masonic Lodge No. 331 and High-Twelve Club of St. Joseph, now Charity Zeredatha Lodge No. 189. He also was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church, St. Joseph, where he and his wife of 68 years were married.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Emma Foley, in 2000; parents, Emory and Emaline Moore; three brothers, Lloyd, Delmar and Paul; and sister, Katie Noel.
Surviving: a sister, Opal Flowers, Papillion, Neb.; daughter, Jeanine Caldarelli, LaVista; son, Jay Moore, St. Joseph; grandson, Brent Ranney, Mesa, Ariz.; granddaughters, Larenda Ranney, LaVista; and Erin Flusche, Dallas, Texas; and great-granddaughter, Riley Flusche, Dallas.
Masonic service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Rose Hill section, St. Joseph. Visitation: begins after 9 a.m. Friday, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Citizens Center Foundation, St. Joseph.
