In memory of
Kathleen Camborde
May 13, 2025
Noel I miss you every day. It has been eleven years since you passed but in some ways it feels like just months ago. Jackie, Jim, Sue, Joe and the grandkids also miss you. Every holiday, we think about the empty chair at our table. We were together for over 50 years and shared so many wonderful adventures.
Love You Always Kathy

I can't believe it is nine years since you passed. In many ways, it seems like only yesterday, and in others like an age. We all miss you so much. Every time T plays the piano I can see you standing there being so proud. They completed Freshman year at Point Park and did great. Quinn is graduating from high school and will be at the University of Vermont in the fall. Alex finished both 8th and 9th grade this year and will be going into NMSA as a sophomore. I think my life would be much different if you were still with me. I miss you so much. Love you forever.

This is such a big year for our family. Our grandchild T is graduating high school and heading off to college. Will be attending school in Pittsburg for musical theater. Starred in Adams Family the Musical and played piano and sang at Vinessie in Santa Fe for months. Also was one of 22 appearing in the Enchantment Awards in ABQ. The musical talent comes from Papa Noel. He would be so proud. Every time T performs I know he is watching. We all miss you every day. Love Kathy

KATHLEEN & FAMILY- I still miss my old Special Forces buddy who I used to always count on to "figure things out" when ever we were in a pinch. I've never really gotten over how our planned reunion of us and our wives in Santa Fe, NM back in 2014 was cut short by his unexpected passing the week before our scheduled arrival. Noel will long be remembered- ROB WEKELL "De Oppresso Liber"
*PS: My older brother Tom Wekell, co-owner and working partner for over 60 years in our 112 year old family business, North Star Glove Co.- Tacoma, WA, passed away just last Friday May 13, 2002 (SAME anniversary date as Noel). At 80 years old, Tom FELL at home recently and suffered a severe concussion, leading to more problems, brain surgeries and eventually a stroke.

It has been seven years but in some ways it feels like just days. I have relived that awful night in Yosemite many times and it does not get easier. I will miss Noel for the rest of my life. I really regret the wonderful times he has missed with his beautiful granddaughters. We all love him so much.

KATHLEEN & JACQUELINE- Hard to believe that my Army Special Forces "right hand man" has been gone now for SEVEN years. I still feel badly that my wife Connie never got to meet him when we visited Santa Fe a week after his passing. As Noel's Army Platoon Leader, I could always count on him to get the job done and to complete the mission. He had an uncanny way of "spotting" things out of the ordinary, like seeing my motor home, from Washington State, parked in the back row at a hotel near Boston, MA. A couple of Army decals on the back gave it away that it might be me, but he figured it out and checked with the front desk to find me; who else could have figured it out? He was a great soldier and he would be the FIRST one I'd want back on my team. May he long be remembered- ROB WEKELL "De Oppresso Liber"

It has been 6 years since I last saw your smiling face. It breaks my heart that you left so soon. We are in the midst of a covid pandemic and I know you would be chomping at the bit being home with little to do. Someone said the other day that Noel would have been adding an addition to the house during a stay at home order. I miss you every day but I know you are keeping us all safe. Love Kathy

KATHY- Just this morning (5/13/2020) I was remembering the day in August 1984 when Noel "spotted" my RV in the parking lot of the Hilton Hotel in Framingham, MA where we both were staying without knowing each other was there. He recognized my Washington State license plate plus the Army Special Forces decal on the back; only "Super Snoop" Noel Camborde would figure out that it was ME. We later enjoyed a couple of days together at your winter cabin in New Hampshire. Noel was one of my "Green Beret" Army Team Leaders at Ft. Bragg, NC in the late 1960s, and I would gladly have taken him back on my "fantasy" A-Team if that were ever possible. He was a GREAT soldier and could always be counted on to complete his mission with ease.
Back in June 2014, a couple of weeks after Noel's passing, my wife Connie and I came through Santa Fe, NM on a planned trip to visit you and Noel, but it was very sad that it was not to be. At least we got to have lunch with you and your lovely daughter downtown in Noel's honor. May his memories live forever- ROB WEKELL- Tacoma, WA "De Oppresso Liber"

It's been 5 years since you left us and went to heaven. I still miss you every day and when I get news about our wonderful granddaughters I want to share it with you. I know you are looking down on all of us and keeping us safe. You are always in our thoughts and prayers. Forty-eight years were not nearly long enough to share with you. Love always, Kathy

Kathy, Jackie & Sue - it is hard to believe that it is nearly two years since we lost Noel. Laura and I hope you and your families are all well. We are in Yosemite now and think of the trip you were about to enjoy every minute that we are here. Love, Laura & Shep

In just two weeks it will be 2 years since you went to heaven. I still miss you every day. I saw a movie recently in which Gloria Vanderbilt said about the death of her husband: "I didn't think it would be forever." That hit me so hard because I can't believe you will be gone forever. Our little girls are getting older and they reflect so much about you--their love of music, outdoor fun, skiing, the piano. I know you look down on them every day and help to keep them safe. This year would be our 50th Wedding Anniversary and I do so wish you were here to share it with me. Love Kathy

Noel i am so troubled to hear of your passing. You taught me so much about life and could not be where I am today if not for you. When we parted many years ago everything was wrong. I never had the chance to show you that the faith you had in me was true. You were and are a great man. I still at times have a craving for a hot pastrami with Swiss and extra hot mustard and a beer with corn chips on the way back from a long day in the Hamptons. Your love for Kathy and family was an inspiration. Never one day would go by without you mentioning them in one fashion or another., never one complaint, only love. I live in Ringwood and still look forward to seeing the road closed due to snow and drive my explorer right around the closed signs and drive like you taught me. I would do anything to meet you as the man I a today, the man you helped make and shake your hand. I was truly blessed to get to spend so much time with such a smart amazing man. You live forever in my heart and my approach in everything I do. God bless you and I hope to see you again..

It is one year ago that you left me I miss you so much. It has been a very difficult year and I doubt I will ever get over your not being here beside me. The girls are my salvation and they miss you too. Tia had a wonderful year skiing and Zoey will miss not having you teach her to ski.

We were shocked and extremely saddened to hear of Noel's passing. He skied many times with our son, Josh, through the adaptive ski program. We will always be grateful to him for all that he did for Josh as well as others with whom he worked. We will miss his loving smile!

I want to thank everyone who sent these lovely messages and thoughts. We had two Memorial Services for Noel one in Santa Fe and one in Ringwood. So many people came and told wonderful stories about Noel and expressed their deep sympathy. I want to thank everyone for their help and good thoughts. Noel and I were married for nearly 48 years. He was a wonderful husband and a great father. He was a great son to his parents, especially in their last years. I know he is in heaven and is meeting with all our family and friends who went before. Please continue to pray for me and my girls. Thank you. Kathy
Letter from Noel's dad during world war 2

I am sorry for your loss. My name is Jimmy Palumbo and I live in Ramsey NJ. I have found letters from Noel's Dad Sgt Lawrence Camborde that he sent to a Ramsey residents, The Rockefellers in 1944. I thought maybe someone in the family may want them. I found them in the attic when the house was sold. I looked his name up to see if Sgt lawrence was lost on D-Day. I was happy to see he wasn't and passed in 2000. I was then sad to learn that Noel passed in May. If anyone in the family wants them please send me an email at [email protected]
Again, sorry for your loss

Kathy,
Know that you, Jackie and Sue are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Many years ago we were happy to ask my cousin and cousin-in-law Noel to be God Parents for our youngest child. We never lived near each other but I only ever heard wonderful words about Noel! You were blessed with a gifted life-partner who has left a big gap in the world that was around him. God rest his soul and peace be with you.

I am a very old friend. Noel was the last man I dated before I met my husband. There are no words. He was very special to a 17 year old girl and remained in my thought for all these years. What a good person he turned out to be and how lucky I was to know the 17 yr old Noel. You and your family are in my Prayers. Gail Fry

We can't say enough about Noel as a friend and neighbor who will be missed from all our lives. We called him a "shirt off your back" guy because he was always there to help. We hated to lose him at Linnea Place where we were neighbors for over 30 years. He skied for fun, for his family, and for veterans who needed his help. We lost a dear friend.

Time. That is what we will always remember about Noel. Good times. Busy times. He made time for everyone and for everything. From the first time we met Noel and Kathy at a Jaycee party in the Sloatsburg Firehouse in 1971, Noel was an important part of our lives. We enjoyed many great times with them. A very sad time as it was not Noel's time.

KATHY & FAMILY- I am very sad to hear of Noel's passing. I was looking forward to having my wife Connie meet my "old army buddy" next month on our visit to Santa Fe. Back in the 1960s, while we were in the U.S. Army SPECIAL FORCES together (mostly out of Ft. Bragg, NC), Noel was one of my five Team Sergeants, each in charge of a 12-man A-Team ; he was a great leader and if we had to do it all over, I'd want NOEL on my team again. He was a "super snoop" who could figure out just about anything; like finding me in Boston,MA staying at the SAME hotel as him in 1984 by spotting my motorhome out in the parking lot with Washington State plates and a Special Forces bumper sticker (only Noel would notice and make the connection). May he rest in Peace- ROB WEKELL "De Oppresso Liber"
