this morning sitting down with a cup of coffee to go through my Facebook contacts and emails - as I always do on weekends - the first Facebook post I read was that of a mutual friend referencing his attendance of the funeral of Nolan.
I did not know your son's name is Nolan. But reading that post an eery feeling creeped up on me, that you and your family might have been struck by the worst nightmare any parent can imagine.
Further posts by friends confirmed the terrible news.
Frank, words - especially in a foreign language - can not express what Sybille and I would like to say to you and your family to express our deepest felt sympathy.
We hope that the love of your family and your faith and the heartfelt empathy of your friends and comrades around the world will eventually help you put this tragic loss into a context of life that will allow you to come to terms with it ... somehow.

I know everyone keeps saying it but Nolan was truly a sweet, precious teenager. He touched more lives in his brief life than most people do in a lifetime. I always loved hearing stories about Nolan from Maegan. She simply adored him. Nolan will always be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Jamie and Frank - You are walking in the shoes of every parents' worst nightmare, which is burying a child. It is the most difficult assignment a human being can be given. Jamie, I remember when your Grandfather Schilling died and the effect it had on your Great-grandmother Schilling. She was devastated.
