Nora Jean (Moore) Albracht Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 8 to Feb. 11, 2024.
Nora Jean (Moore) Albracht, "Squeaky," of Austin, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 3 at the age of 80 due to complications from a stroke. She was born in Livingston, Texas on April 23, 1943 to Charles and Faye (Ivy) Moore and grew up on their dairy farm. Nora graduated from Sam Houston State with a Master in Education. She taught secondary school in Austin before joining the faculty of Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas where she met the love of her life, Dr. Bill Albracht. They settled in Edmond, Oklahoma and raised four children.

In retirement, Nora and Bill happily split time between their ranch in Northeastern New Mexico and their home in Santa Fe, where Nora gardened, welcomed visitors and enjoyed the spectacular New Mexico sunsets. They traveled extensively around the U.S., as well as through Europe, the Americas and Asia. Eventually, they moved to Austin, where Nora loved spending time with family, reading, watching the stock market, tending her garden and following her grandchildren's sports and school activities.

Nora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and neighbor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Faye (Ivy) Moore, and brother, Sam "Trigger" Moore. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William "Bill" Albracht; her children, Ted Albracht of Austin, Amy Albracht and her partner, Sean Di Ianni, of Santa Fe, Michael Albracht of New Orleans, Lisa Albracht and her husband, Allen Odom, of Austin; and her beloved grandchildren, Ellie and Alice Odom.

The family would like to thank Nora's other family members, friends and neighbors who loved and supported her throughout her life. No services will be held. In lieu of making a donation or sending flowers, consider honoring Nora with acts of kindness to others.
