Norah Lee Allen, a luminary in the country music scene, passed away peacefully March 31st, at the age of 76. Born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Norah Lee was a beacon of talent, grace, and kindness throughout her remarkable life.

Norah Lee's journey into the music world began at a tender age, singing with her sisters in The Stuart Sisters Trio under the guidance of their father. Her innate talent blossomed early, leading her to join the Legendary Chuck Wagon Gang in 1968, where she honed her skills as a country gospel singer. On September 22nd, 1969, she married Duane Allen, lead singer of The Oak Ridge Boys, embarking on a partnership that lasted over five decades.

Her career took her to Nashville, where she became renowned for her exceptional vocal ability. From her early days at Benson Publishing Group to her tenure as a background vocalist at the Grand Ole Opry, Norah Lee's versatility and professionalism shone brightly. Over 40 years, she graced the Opry stage, lending her voice to countless performances alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.

In 2022, Norah Lee was honored with induction into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, a testament to her enduring impact on the music world. Her legacy as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as her contributions to country music, will forever be cherished.

Norah Lee is survived by her loving husband of 54 years and 8 months, Duane Allen; her children: daughter Jamie Allen Martin, son-in-law Paul Martin, and son Dee Allen; her grandchildren: March, Kell, Texas, and Tallant Martin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Martha Shannon, brother-in-law George Sells, and her beloved nieces & nephews: Dale and Carol Miller, Mindy and Seth Alexander, and George and Julie Sells. Her great nieces and nephews, including Riley, Regan and Reese Miller, and Quinn and Samantha Sells. All of whom will carry on her memory with love and reverence.

In her passing, Norah Lee reunites with her beloved mother Ima Mae Stuart, father Noble Stuart, sisters Sandra Stuart Sells and Lana Stuart Miller, and brother-in-law Maurice Miller. Additionally, she is joined by her infant daughter, Julie Anna, and infant great-nephews Reid and Randon Miller.

Norah Lee will be remembered not only for her extraordinary talent but also for her humor, kindness, generosity, and faith. Her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

A childhood memory . . . I met Norah Lee, Lana, and Sandra when we were very young girls going to Sunday afternoon church "singings" in Logan, Butler (where I lived), and Warren Counties in Kentucky. They were a gospel trio, The Stuart Sisters, accompanied on piano by their father . . . the "Lennon Sisters of gospel music." My grandmother sang in a gospel quartet, so I would tag along with her and my grandfather to these Sunday singing events. Being kids we didn't care to just sit for 2-3 hours so Norah Lee, Lana, and I would escape to go outside and play until their dad would call them inside for their turn to sing. The Stuarts were a talented, admired, respected family.

I remember the first time i meet her at the Opry and introduced myself. She asked me about my work on the ACM Awards. we chatted for 10 -15 mins and i did not see her again until 2 yrs later, when i was back stage at the Opry and i started to reintroduce myself but before i could she called me over by name and said its so nice to have me back at the Opry. Over the next 20 yrs she always called me by name and greeted me so warmly, even thow i was West Coast Country. Such a sweet graceful classy lady. Gods speed, you left this earth a better place. RIP Norah Lee, you will be missed!!!

Our group "the Proverbs" from Canada, recorded our 4th album in Duane & Nora Lee's original home studio in Hendersonville in the summer of 1972, and Nora Lee came down to greet us and served us refreshments on our lunch break. She was a lovely lady! Our thoughts and prayers are with Duane and the family at this difficult time.

Sorry to hear about Norah passing lifting and sending prayers for all of you. I am asking God to comfort your hearts. I was blessed to be pastor to Noble and Ima Mae at Stuart´s Chapel back in the early 80´s. The Stuart family was a blessing to my family, I remember visiting them at their house in Bowling Green. The family was dear friends. May God comfort you and your family in the coming days.
