Monsignor Dietz was clearly a man of extraordinary faith and fully committed to his service to God and the Catholic Church. I had the privilege of attending a number of services while he was the Pastor at Incarnate Word Parish. This was an individual whose understanding and insight in Christian faith was by far the greatest I have witnessed. My faith as a Catholic near forty years later is still driven by his example and his intellect. I am certain he is tremendously missed by those who knew him. Godspeed Father Dietz, I think of you frequently.

I just learned of Msgr. Dietz's passing last night. I am heartbroken to know he is gone. He was my God-father. My mom, Barbara Jones, got to know Fr. Dietz when she was a student at Bishop Dubourg High School. He became a trusted counselor to her. She married my dad, Pete Cerneka, and I am the youngest of their four children. Fr. Dietz shared with me that when mom and dad asked him to be my God-father, he first had to ask to make sure it was okay. The answer was yes, and I have the privilege of being his only God-child. Fr. Dietz became a close family friend to our family. He was like another Grandfather to me and my siblings. I have such fond memories of celebrating our family's special occasions with him; sacraments received, birthdays celebrated, he was always there. We lost mom to cancer when she was only 41 years old. I was eleven at the time. I can still remember the heartbroken look on Fr. Dietz's face at the hospital the day mom took her last breath. After she died, Fr. Dietz was always there for me. He checked in on me and never forgot my birthday. He was there for me through some of my lowest times. A short visit with him always left me feeling more hopeful and more loved. He helped me more than he will ever know. He was the most holy man I have ever known. His relationship with God was such a natural part of who he was and when around it he made it easier to feel God's presence. He shared it with others with such ease. I last saw him in December. I told him how dear he was to me, and how grateful I am to him for all he has done for me throughout my life. He graciously thanked me for telling him that. I will cherish our last visit together. I am forever grateful to have had him as my God-father. I will miss him dearly. However, I have never been more confident of where he is now, and I know he will continue to be with me for the rest of my life. To have loved and been loved by Msgr. Dietz has been a true honor and most sacred blessing in my life.

I got to know Monsignor Dietz when I worked at Regina Cleri. He was a holy priest. He had a great singing voice, I used to see him resting in the chapel waiting for Eucharistic Adoration to begin everyday - when Adoration began I'd wait to hear his strong singing voice as he sang O salutaris Hostia.... along with all of his brother priests. Rest in peace Msgr. Dietz.

I trained for three years to bring the Eucharist to the sick on Sundays under Msgr.Dietz supervision when he was pastor at Incarnate Word Church in Chesterfield.
He called me to his office prior to being transferred to his new position and said
you can now train others from your 3 years of experience. He was such a holy man! May he rest in peace.
