Noreen Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2025.
Noreen Parker, born on November 24, 1935, in Biddeford, Maine, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. She was 89 years old.

Noreen's life was a testament to resilience, faith, and generosity. Though her early years were marked by hardship, she made it her mission to create a better life not only for her children but also for anyone who crossed her path in need of kindness or shelter. With five children in a modest three-bedroom apartment, she still managed to open her home and heart to others-offering a warm meal, a listening ear, or simply a place to rest.

She was introduced to God by her father-in-law William Huntley and embraced a life of deep faith. Noreen raised her children with daily morning devotions and instilled in them the values of compassion and service. Her love for church was unwavering; she taught Sunday School classes for the young members of the congregation and was an active member of the women's auxiliary. Always attentive to the needs of others, she often offered rides to church for those without transportation.

Noreen found joy in simple yet meaningful pursuits. She had a special talent for knitting-starting with slippers for everyone she loved and eventually crafting beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren as her skills grew. Winters were always warmer thanks to the abundance of mittens she lovingly made by hand. When not knitting or caring for others, she could often be found reading her Bible-a source of strength and guidance throughout her life.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Valorie (Raymond) Cogswell of Springfield, MO; Preston (Sharon) Huntley of North Waterboro, ME; Kathy (Mark) Kobe of Henderson, TN; and Glenn Huntley of Springfield, MO. Noreen's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kristin, Mellisa, Ryan, Elizabeth, Skye, David, Erica, Cherish, Isaac, Caleb, Jarred, and Josh.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Archie Parker-laid to rest in Westbrook, Maine-as well as sons Arthur Huntley (buried in Portland, ME), Timmy Huntley, and Ernie Huntley.

Noreen's life touched many beyond the bounds of family. Her unwavering faith and open-hearted nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those whose lives she so deeply enriched. A Memorial Service will be held on September 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Emmanuel Assembly of God 1571 Washington Ave. There will be refreshments and time to share memories after the service.

She was a sweet lady, and a great source of strength when I was a little kid. My condolences to Val, Preston, Kathy, and Glenn.

Noreen was a special lady that understood the downtrodden, the afflicted, the unloved. She lived her life always glorifying her Lord, Jesus Christ. Her church family was EVERYTHING to her. Her service to help, to give, to minister, to pray, to intercede, etc. did not stop just because her body and mind did. I thank God for the opportunity to know her and will plan on seeing her in Heavon someday soon.
