Norma M. Vera was born to the union of Enriqueta and Adrien Vera, June 1, 1942, in Holtville, California, the third of six children; Norma attended local schools graduating from Calexico High School.

In 1968, Norma met and married the love of her life Jose (Jesse) Ruiz, August 8, 1968, to their union two sons, Jose J. (Chicano) Jr., and Ernest (Ernie) Ruiz were born. Norma was devoted first to to her family raising her sons. Once her children were grown, in 1991, Norma enrolled and graduated from Imperial Valley Community College with an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration.

Norma was always devoted to her faith; she and Jesse were active parishioners at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Norma, an active member of the Guadalupana Society; her devotion and spiritual quiet ease provided comfort to all who sought her guidance throughout her lifetime. Norma's faith was steadfast, she unconditionally loved her children and grandchildren which brought her great joy throughout her life; during their later years Norma and Jose's devotion and love towards each other was immeasurable and strong, there was no challenge that they could not face together because of their faith.

Norma was so proud of her Mexican and indigenous Pascua Yaqui heritage; her cultural pride was demonstrated in her everyday life whether cooking delicious meals, in the art of conversation, or sharing ancestral stories with a beautiful smile and precious laughter. Her hobbies included: walking, reading, watching novellas and dancing with her husband.

With heartfelt and great sadness the family announced the sudden passing of Norma M. Ruiz, Saturday, January 4, 2025 in Brawley, California. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Enriqueta and Adrien Vera, her sisters Harriet (Alice) Vera Flores, Ramona (Yollie) Vera Osborn and brother Jesus (Jesse) Vera.

Norma M. Ruiz, leaves to cherish her memory her loving devoted husband of 46 years, Jesse Ruiz; her children Jesse Ruiz Jr. and Ernest Ruiz both of Calexico, California; sister Martha Flores of Holtville, California and Brother Raul Real Corrales of San Diego, California; grandchildren Maria Ruiz, Jesse Ruiz III, Adan Martinez, Aaron Martinez, Brianna M. Ruiz, Ernest Ruiz Jr., and great grandchildren; Jose Ruiz and Mateo Ruiz Lopez; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephew, great-niece, extended family and friends.
