Norma Woolley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 30 to May 1, 2008.
Norma Laura Slater Woolley 1925 ~ 2008 Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother returned to Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 26, 2008. She was born March 26, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Gilbert and Laura Slater. In September 19, 1946, she married Donald G Woolley in the SL temple. Together they have been dedicated members of the LDS church. She devoted her life to her husband of 61 years, family, friends, church, and community. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, and they loved her dearly. She made her home a welcome place for everyone, so she took great pride in beautifying her home and yard. She was a great cook, loved to laugh, sing, and enjoyed reading. Mom was a pioneer in scrapbooking and made scrapbooks for each child and grandchild. She will be remembered most for acts as Mom and Grandma Norma - the hundreds of cards and gifts she sent out every year, her infectious laugh, her cheery disposition, and her genuine and deep concern for every member of her family. She is survived by her husband Donald G Woolley, her sister Bonnie Selander, her brother James (Jody) Slater, and her four children--Kent (Penny) Woolley of Kaysville; Kirk (Julie) Woolley of Bluffdale; Becky (Craig) Whittemore of S. Jordan; and Cherlyn (Terry) Green of Bountiful. She will be deeply missed by her 14 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren (with two more arriving soon). In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute 1950 Circle of Hope SLC, UT 84112, or simply make a memory with a child or grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sat., May 3rd at 11am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley located at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.) Viewings will also be held at Jenkins-Soffe on Fri., 6-8 p.m. and Sat. from 10-10:45. Online Condolences at www.jenkins-soffe.com

Dear Woolley Family---Scott & I were so sorry to hear of your Mom's and Wife's passing. Norma was such a loving a caring lady. When I (Debbie) was young and out tromping around the neighborhood or walking from our house to Dickson's I always knew if something scary ever happened I could run to the door of the Woolley Home and Norma (or Don) would help me out. Your family was always so sweet to Scott & I and our parents and families and we love you and appreciate your kindness. It was so fun being your neighbors and we feel so honored to have known such a special, elect lady. We just found out today about Norma's passing and feel so bad we were not able to attend the funeral. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Don, may the Lord bless you at this difficult time. We are so greatful for all of the wonderful memories we have of Norma and your wonderful family. Our Love & Condolences--- Scott & Debbie Dickson

Our sympathy to all of the Wooley family. Norma was like no other--I remember her out watering the lawn on the corner of Severn Circle. She always knew who was coming and going and what all of us "wild" teenagers were up to in the neighborhood. I remember her laugh, too. It truly was, as you wrote, "infectious." She has been a good friend to my mother, Jean, and I'll always appreciate that. They were frequent lunch partners and former South High pals. All our love and prayers go with you.

Dear Woolley Family..
Lowell and I want to express our deep sympathy to all of you.
We loved Norma and we will never forget how she was always so involved and showed interest in our family. She always had a smile for everyone...To our children ,when they were young, she was known as the smiling lady on the corner of the circle..Our thoughts are with you all. May the Lord be with you in these times of sorrow.
