I only wish that I had been able to spend more time with this kind and gentle man. I will always remember how kind he was to my Aunt Edith (who was not an easy person) and to my mom and I when we visited in WV. Sometimes a person comes into our lives and we know that even though we will not see them often, we know instantly that they will play an important part in our life and memories - Norman was one of those people for me. I send my love and heartfelt sympathies to all who knew and loved him. - Cousin Mona

Norman and I worked together for many years at MSHA and during that time we became good friends. His retirement in 2002 was a great loss for the coal miners of southern WV. He was a very hard working inspector and he always put the safety of the miner first and foremost. Please know that your loss is shared by many of us. Norman will be missed greatly. May GOD hold you in the palms of his hands through this difficult time.
