Have not seen all his films but were very impressed with Moonstruck and In The Heat Of The Night. They were outstanding as were the actors and actresses in both, R.I.P,

Norman Jewison had an infectious laugh and a love of life, love for his children, and of course the movies. His laser focus on social injustices showed the world how it really was and the need for change. I will always cherish the moments in his presence. My deepest condolences to Kevin, Michael and Jenny and their families.

I photographed Norman for an acclaimed book entitled
People Who Make a Difference.
A delightful human being to work with. I was certainly intimidated and he made it easy for me. Norman Jewison is a creative monster of film and a huge inspiration for me.
He has left a mecca of work. Peace Norman. You will be missed
and my sincere condolences to your family.

My first memory of Norm was back in the seventies. My parents were friends with his sister and we spent many a summer visiting the cottage. His cottage was across the street from hers and spent many a day there. He even taught me how to water ski. I wish to extend my sincere condolences to his family.

He made an eclectic set of creations charactised by deep thoughtfulness, sincerity, attention to detail, and filmic good quality, that left his audiences deeply effected. Film makers usually enter this hard mistress of a vocation because they want to change the world by making people think and appreciate. Norman Jewison has changed the world.

My first memory of Norm was many years ago in the early 1950s, long before Hollywood was on the horizon. My parents were good friends of Norm's sister Betty and her husband Jack Robertson. Their daughters were my best friends. That resulted in weekends at the Jewison cottage in Innisfil Beach. We didn't have a tv at the time, Dad thought it was a passing fad. I suspect Norm convinced him otherwise and he finally relented but not for a couple of years. There always seemed to be some sort of construction project that needed to be done at the cottage. In reality I'm not sure how much actually got completed. It was an idyllic childhood filled with fun and always lots of laughter. His smile is one that is as clear today as it was back then. Rest in peace.
