Norman "Buddy" Krug

Norman "Buddy" Krug August 6, 1928 – July 21, 2011 Norman "Buddy" Krug, embraced 82 years of life, before peacefully passing on to join our Lord along the still waters on July 21, 2011. He graced this world on August 6, 1928, the son of Leo and Edna Krug, and the brother of Gene and Marilyn, all of whom predeceased him in death. He was born and spent his childhood in La Crosse Kansas, learned to work hard, but was also a bit of a spitfire. After high school he joined the Army, spending 1946 and 1947 as an MP in the Army. In 1949 he met his bride to be, Marion Macdonald. They were married on June 4, 1949 and they cherished each other for nearly 62 years. Marion passed away February 3, 2011. Together they raised three sons. He relocated often during the early years while working for several drilling companies. He and his family settled permanently in Grand Junction in 1962. He later started his own drilling business. He retired from Krug Drilling in 1986. Buddy enjoyed deer hunting, cat fishing, ice fishing, tending his roses, playing cards and bingo, gambling, dabbling in the kitchen, and above all, spending time with the love of his life. In addition to many fishing trips with friends, and family gatherings, Buddy and Marion enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas and to Cortez. You could always find Buddy every Tuesday morning with "the boys" Joe, Bob, Pete, and Myles. You were welcome to join them as long as you were willing to talk fishing, tell stories, and play scratch tickets. He will be genuinely missed by his children, Larry (Deborah) of Whitewater and Jerry of Grand Junction; six grandchildren, Laurie, Brandi, Lisa, Paul, Matthew, and Jarrett and six great-grandchildren. One son, Terry, predeceased him. He will be remembered for his generosity, patience, sense of humor, and a great poker face. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Western Colorado. A service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Sunday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m.
