G. Sutter Obituary

G. Edward Sutter Jr., 94, recently of St. Barnabas Village, Richland, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004. He formerly was of Bellevue and Ross and a summer resident of Conneaut Lake. Mr. Sutter was the owner of the food brokerage firm of Esenwein & Sutter. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy in 1929 and in 1933 from Allegheny College, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epslon fraternity. During World War II, he held the rank of lieutenant commander and was the chief commissary officer at Camp Peary, Virginia. Mr. Sutter was a member of Avalon Lodge 657 F&AM, Syria Shrine and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was an avid golfer and one of the longest-tenured members of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, where he was a founder of the men's duckpin league. Beloved husband of Frances E. (Crable) Sutter. Also survived by loving daughters Diane Sutter, of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Helen Sutter Turkalj, of Hempfield, and grandsons Travis M. and Kyle J. Turkalj, of Hempfield. Predeceased by his brother, David S. Sutter. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and noon until 2 p.m. services Monday at the ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME INC., 1014 California Ave., Avalon, a Golden Rule Member Firm. Burial will be in Union Dale Cemetery, North Side. The family suggests memorials in Mr. Sutter's name to Allegheny College, President's Office, 520 N. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335.
