Shirley Virginia (Murphy) Caudill, age 76 of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with breast and ovarian cancer. She was born to the late William and Irma Murphy on October 3, 1938 I Winfield, Tennessee.
Shirley held her family first, as a supportive wife and caring mother. She was employed in a variety of positions ranging from machinist and tooling work, nursing home dietician and later, in a variety of restaurant service positions.
In the 1980's, Shirley worked alongside her husband, Rolland, and his brothers at their family-owned business 4-C's Welding Lab. She was instrumental in the growth and success of their business.
Shirley led a very active life. She very much enjoyed gardening. Her homes were always adorned with an array of plants, flowers and a variety of fragrances. She relished canning her fresh grown fruits and vegetables, which she loved to eat, and loved even more to share with family and friends.
She fondly recalled the extensive travels she enjoyed with her husband Rolland and at times various family and friends. She spoke most affectionately of her trips with Rolland to Hawaii, London, England and Yellowstone National Park as well as the thousands of miles ridden together throughout the Country on any number of motorcycle trips.
Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Meritta.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Rolland Caudill; son Jeff (Patty) Brooks; daughters Maria (Bobby) Dill, Annette (Monty) Hagenschneider, Margie (Randy) Hajer and Ginger (Art) Link; brothers Ralph (Pat) Murphy, Lonnie (Sue) Murphy, Jack (Mallie) Murphy, William (Anna Rose) Murphy, Fred Murphy, Dwight (Lois) Murphy; sister Phyllis (Rufus) Terry; brothers-in-law Archie (Reva) Caudill, Carter Caudill, and Bobby (Lisa) Caudill; sister-in-law Bernice (Stan) McClain; special friend Nina Walters; grandchildren Evan Brooks, Dawn Brooks, Richard "Dale" Kearney, Josh Dill, Amanda Dill, Jennifer Gabbard, Jamie Bowling, Richie Hajer, John Michael Walsh, A.J. Link, Natalie Link, Edna Prichard, Andrea Bullock, William Caudill and Laura Caudill; as well as 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the Caudill family for a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Pleasant Grove Road in Winfield, Tennessee.
