I still have memories of Mr. Weeks from Brookstone. I will never forget the day in science that he was cold and decided to build a fire in the trashcan at the same time someone pulled the fire alarm. As the fire trucks came rolling up, smoke came pouring out of the lower school science classroom. He made school fun!! my thoughts and prayers are with his family

Mr. Weeks was a wonderful and inspiring man. To this day I tell my kids about my fifth grade teacher at Rigdon Road. If every child could experience having a teacher who loved their job and students the way he did, the world would be a much better place. I saw him a few years ago sitting at a gas station and when I hugged him he was shocked I actually stopped to sit and chat. My prayers are with you all during your time of mourning. He was a great man and thank you for sharing him with so many children and families over the years.

Words can't express how shocked I was to receive the news this morning about Mr. Weeks' death. I saw him a few years ago at a gas station. I assumed that because I had attended Rigdon Road Elementary some fifteen years earlier that he would not remember me. I was wrong. Mr. Weeks greeted me by name and gave me a very much needed hug.

I could go on about how he contributed to the development of so many children who lived in the Rigdon Road area, but it would make me, too, emotional. As a teacher, I can only hope to have the same passion and innovative spirit that Mr. Weeks had. What can you say about a teacher who had children from "the neighborhood" growing vegetables behind their school? What other teacher in the late 1980s knew that you could take one event, like planting a garden, and create lessons that spanned across several academic areas (math, social studies, science, and language arts)? The community and the field of education has lost a great asset. To Mrs. Weeks and "the boys" my heart felt condolences are extended to you.
