Stephen and Richard, I was very sad to hear of your dad's passing. I met him many years ago, when he lived at the Lake in Burlington. He was gentle and kind, but so full of dry humor, and wonderful knowledge, always willing to listen and share his wisdom. I followed his greenhouse business ventures with keen interest and pleasure. I have memories of seeing the Florida Greenhouse full of beautiful - colorful geraniums in all stages of growth. When I retired from "Bell" and moved to Colorado, a part of me was left among those greenhouses. Whenever I look at flowers, I think of him, and always will. He was a genuine person, and those whose lives he touched were very fortunate.

To the family of Norris: we were shocked and saddened when we received the news of his passing. Norris rented an apartment from me on Lake Champlain, "babysat" for my two teens, shared sunsets and swimming, meals, conversations and laughs. He also provided boxes of flowers for my second marriage. We socialized again when he made his move to Bradenton. He was a gentleman among men and our loss is great. How fortunate the many lives he touched by just being Norris.

I met Norris at Ann and Rick's wedding and just loved him. What a wonderful personality. I wish my husband had a chance to meet him as I know he would have enjoyed his company.

My first four years in UVM Extension were spent working with Norris in the Small Business Development Center State Office in Morrill Hall.
At some point during the course of each day, Norris would share either an anecedote (there were many!) or a piece of wisdom. I learned a great deal from him during those four years, and he became both a friend and mentor. One piece of advice that stays with me is "a little good will goes a long way." It is a principle that I have passed on to my own children, but I've never forgotten from whom it came.
Family was very important to him -- he spoke of you daily and took great pride in your achievements. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Steve and Richard, my condolences at the passing of your father. I have enjoyed and valued his friendship for the past 20 years. His wit and humor were unbeatable, and he was a pretty good dancer too.

My condolences to the family of Norris Elliott. I enjoyed working with Norris and his family over the past eight years. Norris was a very hard worker and always enjoyable to work with and be around. I am glad that he was able to spend the last weeks of his life at his farm with Carolyn, Steve, Hillary, Mickaela, Jude and Largo. They brought him much happiness.

Steve and Family,
Jim and I have real fond memories of Norris. Working with him on the Garden Center at Stowe in 1986 was the greatest. He was a super man with am unreal sense of humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. He's in a happier place now, making the angles laugh.

Steve, Carolyn and family,
Your Dad was the best. In the short time I knew him I learned so many valuable lessons about business. Our hearts are sad for you all. (Steve, always know there's a whoopie pie for you at Mountain View!) If ever we can do anything... Hugs to you all.

Norris was the UVM Extension Area Administrator when I was hired back in 1983. He was a good leader who understood Extension and its local role very clearly.

So sorry to hear about Norris. Last fall at the LI Coporators' Meeting I had a nice conversation with him. It had been many years since we last met. He was my General Science teacher at LI in the late 1950's. Later, I worked for awhile grading and packing eggs for him. He was always such a nice, pleasant person to be around. I still think of some of the jokes he told during General Science class.
