Norris Lewis Matt Goad recital
Matt Goad

Shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of Norris Lewis. He was incredibly influential on me and taught be guitar for over three years in the mid 80s. Attaching a photo of he and I at a recital at my church in 1984. I still have numerous practice cassettes he made for me to play to. Thoughts are with his family.

Norris was not only my bass guitar teacher, but my friend. I met him around 1990. Such a positive person who I could always make laugh & smile! I sang in Jack wolfs band that Norris was in, as well as formed my own band. Norris & I would call each other on occasion & talk about music. Sometimes he would meet with us & a couple of friends to hear a band! Norris also enjoyed seeing my daughter & son grow up over the years...since they were students at Milano Music at age 5. It broke my heart to learn he passed away. He always gave me compliments on my singing & bass playing. Not many days go by without thinking of him when I hear a certain song we used to work on. What a great man and how fortunate was I to have him as my dear friend. I miss you my friend... may God enjoy your wonderful singing voice & beautiful guitar playing. I feel blessed I have you on my 2014 wedding video wishing me & my husband well.

Its been two months now and I probably think of Norris in some way at least once a day. Not sure if I have ever met someone who had their game as together as Norris did. Never said no when it came to helping someone with their music aspirations. Fare thee well my friend. Thank you for each of my 481 guitar lessons. I looked forward to each one.

My husband took bass lessons from Norris and absolutely loved him! He started a father-son band where they would play at various events, carnivals, the State and County fairs and my husband and my son were in one of the bands. I will always remember Norris as a quiet, gentle man who loved music and it showed in his students!! So sorry that he is gone. Will miss you Norris.

He was a very gentle, kind man. I was fortunate enough to get to know him a little bit as he would come in to the salon to get his haircut once or twice a year. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face, always happy and always thankful. I am so glad and grateful I got to visit with him a few weeks before his passing. I will miss him and seeing his motorcycle and truck parked out back. Prayers for his family and loved ones left behind.
