CRUTCHER, Dr. James Dr. James C. Crutcher Dr. James C. Crutcher passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2011 attended to by his family. He excelled in his many careers. His key positions included: Emory University Professor of Medicine and Professor of Health Science; Atlanta VA Hospital Associate Chief of Medical Services; National VA Chief Medical Director; Brigadier General in US Army Reserve Medical Corps; Regional Health Director for Gwinnett and Rockdale Counties. He was most proud of being a devoted Dad to his children who cherished him. He was pre-deceased by his wife Frances L. Crutcher and his oldest son James M. Crutcher. He is survived by Edith C. Crutcher, the mother of his children, and his remaining children: Carole C. Hauert of Powder Springs, GA; Deborah J. Darugar of Eatonton, GA; Dr. Kenneth L. Crutcher of Little River, SC; and Bruce G. Crutcher of Hazel Green, AL. A private ceremony was held at Arlington Memorial park in Sandy Springs, GA. While we mourn his loss we celebrate his life. I will always remember Jim with much fondness, appreciation,and respect. We volunteered together for several years as we were starting the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Service,now celebrating its 20th year. Much of its success is due to Jim's contributions. It has been a great privilege to have known him.

My sincere condolences to the entire family. I served with "Jumping Jim" in the 818th Hospital Center. I was despert for a reserve drill position. Jim saw my application with my name associated with Emory University Hospital - I got the job as S-4. I was forever thankful to him for this honor. We will all miss his humor and wisdom. LTC Keith F.
