McNULTY MARY JANE (WILSON)
Of Fox Chapel, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. She was 92. Beloved wife of 66 years to the late James E. McNulty; loving mother of James E. McNulty, Jr. (Kathy) of Boca Raton, FL, David W. McNulty of Kiev, Ukraine, Barbara McNulty Love (Kenneth) of Squirrel Hill, the late Robert M. McNulty, Carol McNulty-Huffman (Daniel) of Maui, HI and Elizabeth McNulty Bell (Steven) of Beaver Falls; cherished grandmother of Christy, James, Oren (Cathy), Toby, Julia (Eric), Daniel, Maggie (Ben), Katie, Emily and Erin; sister of the late J. Hull Wilson; great-granddaughter of B.F. Wilson, owner of the famous Llewellin setter Count Noble. As valedictorian of St. Paul's Cathedral High School, she won a full scholarship to Mount Mercy College (Carlow University) and was graduated with a BA in English and Sociology. An accomplished poet, she was involved in many literary activities including Mad Women in the Attic Workshop at Carlow University. She conducted poetry workshops in the Pittsburgh Public Schools for Generations Together and was an active member of the Squirrel Hill Poetry Workshop and the Pittsburgh Poetry Society. Her poetry was published in literary journals, she won numerous awards. At Saint Margaret's Hospital, Mary Jane was an active volunteer and a member of the hospital's Auxiliary Board. She acted in numerous volunteer capacities for Contact Pittsburgh, a telephone help-line, where she established the Reassurance Program. As both coordinator and group leader, Mary Jane initiated The Great Books Program in the Fox Chapel Schools. Her creative and adventurous spirit took her and her husband James on many travels around the world. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26th from 2-6 p.m. at the WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall. A parting prayer will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Scholastica Church, Aspinwall.
