COATES _ Catherine Olive Blanche (Tony) December 26, 1916 - September 19, 2003 Blanche went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 19, 2003 at the Holy Cross Long Term Care Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Charles (Bud) Coates and leaves behind her children, Kathryn Ann Orr (Robert), Charles Murray Coates and Blanche Jean Moore (James); grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Orr (Donald), Robert Charles Orr (Holly), Edward James Moore (Katherine), Laurie Jean Moore, Samantha Joan Moore (Bradley); and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Nicole, Haley, Oliver and Isha. Blanche was a native Calgarian. She married Bud in 1937, and except for a brief period in Edmonton, where Jean was born, lived in southwest Calgary all of her life. From 1956 until her retirement in the 1970's, she worked at the downtown Macleod Brothers clothing store. Blanche was a fixture in the community of Killarney where she raised her family and kept the home that she built with Bud. She was an active member of St. Matthew's United Church and a lifetime member of the UCW. Blanche loved the outdoors and was a great cranberry picker. She spent many happy days hiking, camping and skiing with her family and with the Second Sixties Outdoor Club, and learned to drive at the age of sixty-five. In her last years Blanche lived at the Westview Lodge and at the Holy Cross Long Term Care Centre where she made many friends. A celebration of Blanche's ("Tony's") life will be held at St. Matthew's United Church, 2035 - 26A Street S.W., Calgary on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev.
